Conor McGregor immediately began taking shots at the current UFC lightweight champion, promising to enjoy the bad beating he is allegedly going to put on Khabib Nurmagomedov.

A heavyweight bout between Augusto Sakai and Chase Sherman took place on tonight’s UFC Fight Night 137 prelims from Sao Paulo, Brazil. Chase Sherman enters tonight’s contest on a two fight losing skid. His latest setback came to Justin Willis via decision this past April in Atlantic City.

Prior to tonight’s fight, Leites, announced that he would be retiring from the sport win or lose following his bout with Lombard at UFC Fight Night 137.

Former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor will return to the octagon in less than two weeks when he squares off with reigning lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov for the promotions 155-pound belt in the headliner of UFC 229. The highly anticipated lightweight title fight, which takes place October 6 live from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, will mark Conor McGregor’s first octagon appearance since UFC 205 in November of 2016.

Conor McGregor is back and after signing a new deal with the UFC, it looks like he plans on sticking around for longer than we may have assumed. The deal inked was for eight additional fights presumably not counting his next clash against UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 on October 6. In the deal, it is however specified that McGregor will be able to go off and compete in boxing matches if he so feels the desire.

It didn’t take long for retired boxer Paulie Malignaggi to react to yesterday’s UFC 229 press conference, which featured Conor McGregor, Khabib Nurmagomedov, and a whole lot of trash talk. In his eyes, McGregor failed to get inside Nurmagomedov’s head, which in turn doesn’t bode well for his chances when they fight on October 6.

YouTuber Logan Paul has been stirring up some rumours that he wants to fight in the UFC after his big payday in a boxing match against fellow YouTuber KSI. Paul was a wrestler in the state of Ohio, arguably one of the best wrestling states in the country. While he does have a wrestling background, UFC President Dana White doesn’t seem to adamant to let Paul fight in the UFC.

There is no question about it. The top fighters in the UFC make a pretty penny, while the fighters competing on the prelims often struggle to get by. This has been a huge concern for several fighters, some of whom have attempted to start a fighter’s union to improve things, though these efforts have not gained much traction. South Dakota native Devin Clark falls into this second category of fighters. He is currently not ranked and isn’t fighting the kind of big fights that will improve his pay. While Clark will be taking on Aleksander Rakic at UFC 231 on Dec. 8, he knows he has to win to get his win bonus, as well as make it flashy for a shot at a performance bonus.

UFC 230, which goes down on November 3 inside New York City’s Madison Square Garden, is still without a main event. That being said, the card does have dynamite co-main event, which will pit Dustin Poirier against Nate Diaz in a lightweight bout that is brimming with title implications. Speaking on Twitter on Thursday, Dustin Poirier made a suggestion that would seem to give his fight with Diaz enough oomph that it could serve as the UFC 230 main event. He suggested the fight could be contested at 165 pounds — for the championship of a new 165-pound division.

Yesterday afternoon, the UFC hosted the first press conference for UFC 229, featuring headliners Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor. As expected, all hell broke loose. One major theme of this wild press conference was Conor McGregor plugging his new whiskey Proper Twelve. The Irish star was sipping his new whiskey consistently throughout the event, and ultimately announced that the brand is now a sponsor of the UFC. He even offered Khabib Nurmagomedov a birthday drink — though Nurmagomedov unsurprisingly declined.

On October 6, former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion Conor McGregor will return to the cage for a showdown with undefeated UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. This will be McGregor’s first MMA bout since November of 2016, when he knocked out Eddie Alvarez to win the lightweight belt, and his first fight since his August 2017 boxing match with Floyd Mayweather.
