The end of 2018 is set to be a huge one in the world of MMA and arguably the biggest fights are coming at the very end of it. UFC 232 will take place on December 29 live from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. In the night’s co-main event we will be treated to a big super fight between the featherweight champion Cris Cyborg and the bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes.

Last Saturday night, in the main event of Bellator 208, former UFC middleweight and light heavyweight title challenger Chael Sonnen stepped into the cage with heavyweight legend Fedor Emelianenko. Although Sonnen had some success with his wrestling in this fight, he was ultimately stopped in the waning moments of the first round, as Emelianenko unleashed a veritable meteor shower of ground-and-pound upon his head. Speaking on The MMA Hour on Monday, Chael Sonnen opened up on this loss. He says that, after being dropped early and pounded out on the mat, he’s in significant physical pain. No surprise there.

ONE women’s atomweight champion Angela Lee is currently gearing up for a massive title fight with ONE strawweight champ Xiong Jing Nan. If Lee is able to win this mammoth showdown, she will become a two-division ONE champion. She’ll also reaffirm her status as one of the world’s best female fighters. Considering the amount of talented female fighters that are currently competing on the sport’s biggest stages, thats saying something.

UFC 232 is shaping up to be a great card. The end of year card always seems to have some of the biggest names in the UFC on it. This year is no different. In the main event, Jon Jones will be making his long-awaited return to the Octagon in a light heavyweight title fight with Alexander Gustafsson, while a women’s super fight will serve as the co-main event, as featherweight champ Cris Cyborg will defend her belt against bantamweight titleholder Amanda Nunes.

After much scrambling, the UFC was finally able to lock down a UFC 230 main event that most fans to be happy with. The card will be headlined by a heavyweight title fight between reigning champion Daniel Cormier and surging contender Derrick Lewis. Unfortunately, it took the promotion quite a while to arrive at this main event. That means that neither Cormier nor Lewis will have much in the way of time to prepare.

Alex Nurmagomedov, the uncle of Khabib Nurmagomedov, claims the UFC lightweight champion turned down a $15 million dollar offer to eventually rematch Conor McGregor, the man he just submitted in the UFC 229 main event. Apparently, Nurmagomedov has no interest in fighting McGregor again, and instead wants to fight Tony Ferguson and then retire from competition. “From the start, they offered him 15 million if he agrees,” Alex Nurmagomedov told  Russia’s Sport Express (via MMAjunkie). “But Khabib said no. Let Conor stand in line, let him fight with others. Khabib wants to fight Ferguson, and then finish his career.”

There is already plenty of buzz about a potential rematch between UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and the man he defeated in the UFC 229 main event, former two-division champ Conor McGregor. Yet in the eyes of Daniel Cormier — a long-time training partner of Nurmagomedov— McGregor’s team would have a real ’cause for concern’ in this potential rematch. Daniel Cormier’s logic? Conor McGregor has already done about as well as he can do against Khabib Nurmagomedov — and that certainly wasn’t enough.

Undefeated UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov (27-0 MMA) scored a dominant win over former division title holder Conor McGregor in the main event of UFC 229. “The Eagle” was able to utilize his strong wrestling skills to control the hard-hitting Irishman for the better part of three rounds before eventually submitting McGregor with a neck crank in Round 4.

Former two division champion Conor McGregor fell short in his attempt to reclaim the promotions lightweight title from Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229. The undefeated Russian, Nurmagomedov (27-0 MMA), was able to frustrate the Irish superstar with his strong grappling skills before eventually submitting McGregor with a neck crank in round four.

The fight may now be off between Dustin Poirier and Nate Diaz for UFC 230 next month, but the war of words continues on anyway. If there was one fight that everyone was most anticipating for the UFC’s return to Madison Square Garden on November 3, it seemingly was the lightweight clash between the top contender Poirier and the returning Diaz.

At UFC 230, the co-main event was supposed to be Dustin Poirer taking on Nate Diaz. Diaz was set to make his long-awaited return to the Octagon against Poirer. However, just weeks ahead of UFC 230, UFC fans got devastating news. Poirer had to withdraw from the event due to an injury. Speaking with Luke Thomas on the MMA Hour, Poirer revealed the injury was his hip. An injury that has been bothering him for quite some time.

At ONE: Heart of The Lion, which goes down on November 9 in Singapore, ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion Angela Lee (9-0) will attempt to follow in the footsteps of Aung La N Sang and Martin Nguyen and enter the history books as a ONE two-weight World Champion. In order to accomplish this mammoth feat, she’ll have to wrest the ONE Women’s Strawweight World Title from the waist of fearsome champion Xiong Jing Nan. While Angela Lee recognizes that the task ahead will not be easy, she says she is currently enjoying one of the best training camps of her career. That, she explains, is due in part to the fact that she will be fighting Xiong at 125 pounds, rather than 115 pounds, where she normally competes.

Despite going a perfect 4-0 in the UFC, middleweight fighter Jordan Johnson may be taking his talents elsewhere now that he has fought out his latest contract with the promotion. Johnson entered the UFC as a light heavyweight. He defeated Luis Henrique da Silva, Marcel Fortuna, and Adam Milstead despite a substantial weight difference. Johnson then moved down to middleweight for his fourth fight in the UFC. Although his division had changed the outcome was the same. Johnson got his hand raised for the 13th straight time (10-0 professional, 3-0 amateur).
