The Octagon touched down in Kansas for the first time on Saturday night, returning to our screens with UFC Wichita. The main event of the card was an important heavyweight fight. Ultimately, Junior dos Santos beat Derrick Lewis by TKO in the second round to become a top contender in the heavyweight division. Although Daniel Cormier has been eyeing a fight with Brock Lesnar, the question is, did dos Santos do enough to get the next shot?

ONE Championship’s first ever Japan event, ONE: A NEW ERA, got even bigger with the addition of a fourth World Title contest to an already stacked card.  The promotion announced the rubber match between ONE Bantamweight World Champion Kevin Belingon and former titleholder Bibiano Fernandes for the spectacle which takes place at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan on 31 March. This will be the third time the two men have met, and with each man having a win each, the next one will decide the true king of the division.

Former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos continued his comeback tour at UFC Wichita on Saturday night, when he clobbered recent title challenger Derrick Lewis to a second-round TKO. With this victory, dos Santos is now on an impressive three-fight streak. He’s likely now only a win or two away from another shot at heavyweight gold, and could probably earn himself a shot with a big win over the right opponent.

The 135-pound bantamweight division is about as deep as it gets across the board in MMA. In the UFC specifically, new and exciting talents are seemingly emerging with every event. However, the weight class is, unfortunately, starting to find itself a bit clogged at the top. At UFC Brooklyn in January, the division’s champion, TJ Dillashaw, went down in weight to try and capture the flyweight title against the recently crowned Henry Cejudo. The defending champion would end up doing just that as he only needed 32 seconds to dispatch of the higher weight class’ titleholder.
