UFC welterweight standout Tim Means stepped back in the octagon at tonight’s UFC Wichita event for a fight with Niko Price.

Means entered tonight’s contest looking to build on the momentum of his first round TKO victory over Ricky Rainey this past November.

Meanwhile, Niko Price came in to UFC Wichita looking to rebound, this after having his two-fight win streak ended by Abdul Razak Alhassan.

Tonight’s Means vs. Price bout was expected to deliver fireworks and it did not disappoint.

Price stunned Means early in round one, but “The Dirty Bird” was able to score a timely takedown followed by some decent ground and pound. When the fighters got back to standing and trading, Means appeared to have Price in trouble after landing a couple of good combinations. However, Niko Price would deliver a thunderous right hand that sent Means crashing to the floor (watch that here).

Tonight’s brutal ending marked the first knockout loss of Tim Means 41-fight career.

Regrettably the pain associated with the knockout loss probably pales in comparison to Tim Means ankle.

The 35-year old veteran suffered a broken ankle at tonight’s UFC Wichita event.

Tim Means would later release a statement on the injury, which will require surgery, via his official Instagram.

“I do my best to leave it all in the ring everytime out so the fans can get what they paid for. Wasn’t my night I have to get surgery broken ankle. Niko caught me with a punch and my foot got stuck under me. Much respect to @hybridufc . See y’all down the road. Thankyou to everyone for the kind words.” – Tim Means
