Tom Taylor - May 15, 2019

With Khabib Nurmagomedov, Dustin Poirier, Donald Cerrone, Tony Ferguson, Nate Diaz and Max Holloway all currently booked, there aren’t a lot of viable opponents left for former UFC lightweight and featherweight champ Conor McGregor. One option that is still available, however, is former World Series of Fighting lightweight king Justin Gaethje. While a the idea of a McGregor vs. Justin Gaethje fight is likely to excite many fans, Gaethje’s manager Ali Abdelaziz does not believe the fight would be competitive. He believes his client would dominate the Irishman, and used all kinds of creative metaphors to describe the color of McGregor’s flesh after a potential meeting with Gaethje.

Frankie Edgar explains why title fight with Max Holloway 'makes sense'

Cole Shelton - May 14, 2019

At UFC 240 current featherweight champion Max Holloway will look to defend his title against Frankie Edgar, not Alexander Volkanovski, as many expected. The former UFC lightweight champion is just 1-1 in his last two fights and hasn’t fought since April 2018. But, according to Edgar, he knew he was next after talking to the UFC. After all, he did give up his title shot when Holloway got injured and accepted a short-notice fight against Brian Ortega, which he ended up losing.

Drake Riggs - May 14, 2019

At UFC 235 in March, the former bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt went to war with Brazil’s rising contender, Pedro Munhoz. Unfortunately for the Team Alpha Male staple, he would suffer his third consecutive defeat via knockout. Of course, it’s never a fighter’s desire to take damage, especially in the form of a knockout. So when it comes to getting back to fighting, health and timing are critical.

Jon Jones, inarguably the fiercest rival of Cormier’s career, expects the champion to defeat Miocic once again — though perhaps not quite as easily. Anderson Silva escapes UFC 237 with minor injuries

Tom Taylor - May 14, 2019

As Anderson Silva collapsed to the ground in the UFC 237 co-main main event, clutching his knee in pain, we all experienced terrifying flashbacks to his 2013 loss to Chris Weidman. At best, it looked as though Silva’s ligaments had been hacked to pieces by Jared Cannonier’s crippling leg kicks. Duke Roufus has an interesting strategy to prepare Anthony Pettis for Nate Diaz

Tom Taylor - May 14, 2019

When Anthony Pettis steps into the cage with Nate Diaz at UFC 241, he’ll have to worry about his opponent’s incredible grappling skill, his crisp boxing, and his bottomless gas tank. Yet he’ll also have to be concerned with a much more intangible factor: Diaz’s trash talk. Nate Diaz and his brother Nick are both infamous for their habit of talking trash to their opponents mid-fight. In an apparent grudge match like this fight with Pettis, the trash talk will almost certainly fly inside the Octagon.

Tom Taylor - May 14, 2019

This weekend, in the main event of ONE Championship: Enter The Dragon, Christian Lee will partake in the biggest fight of his career as he challenges Japanese legend Shinya Aoki for the ONE Lightweight World Title. While this matchup is taking up most of his focus at present, he believes there could be another big fight for the Lee family in the very near future: a rematch between his sister, ONE Atomweight champ Angela Lee, and ONE Strawweight champ Xiong Jing Nan. Angela Lee and Xiong Jing Nan first met in late March, at ONE: A New Era in Tokyo, Japan. This bout, which stands out as one of the best of the year so far, saw Xiong emerge the victor by fifth round TKO. That being said, Lee very nearly finished the fight herself in the fourth round, as she had Xiong locked up in a bone-bending armbar until the round ended.

Alex Volkanovski hospitalized with blood infection in Chile

Tom Taylor - May 14, 2019

Yesterday afternoon, news surfaced that the UFC is targeting a featherweight title fight between Max Holloway and Frankie Edgar for UFC 240 in July. The widespread reaction to this news is that top featherweight contender Alex Volkanovski, who just defeated Jose Aldo at UFC 237, is being snubbed. As it turns out, this is probably the least of the Australian’s contenders worries at present.
