Muhammad Mokaev set to fight for Brave CF flyweight title in latest post-UFC booking

Former UFC flyweight contender Muhammad Mokaev will face a surging prospect for the Brave CF 125lb championship.
Muhammad Mokaev will meet surging flyweight star Gerard Burns in the Brave CF 100 main event on November 7th. Mokaev and Burns will fight for the men’s flyweight championship in a massive showdown to mark the promotion’s 100th event.
Brave CF announced the news of the Mokaev vs. Burns fight in a press release on Thursday.
Mokaev returns to the cage after defeating Thomas Assis by unanimous decision at 971 Fighting Championship 2 in June. The matchup was at 135 lbs, and Mokaev will now move back down to his main competitive division.
Muhammad Mokaev set to challenge for first world title since UFC ouster
Despite a seven-fight unbeaten run in the UFC Octagon, the promotion opted to part ways with Mokaev after several incidents outside of the cage. The 25-year-old had a checkered relationship with the UFC matchmakers, allegedly turning down fights and making hefty demands.
Mokaev denies these allegations and is confident he can change the UFC brass’s minds in the coming months. During his UFC tenure, Mokaev defeated the likes of Manel Kape, Alex Perez, and Tim Elliott.
Mokaev will face a tough test in Burns, who has won six consecutive fights and is considered one of the top flyweight prospects in the world. In July, Burns most recently defeated Alinson Ochoa by unanimous decision to secure a spot in the flyweight title matchup with Mokaev.
The 25-year-old Mokaev still has plenty of time to make another strong case to return to the UFC Octagon at some point in his career. Mokaev is desperately needed in the UFC flyweight title picture, as Alexandre Pantoja has taken down most of the top contenders in the division.
Mokaev could get another look with a win over Burns as he looks to secure a world championship to add to his resume.
