Bellator 193 Results: Lorenz Larkin Earns First Bellator Win

Drake Riggs - January 26, 2018

The fighters started the action feeling each other out with kicks that didn’t really land. As the first minute ticked away, Fernando Gonzalez landed a nice body kick as Lorenz Larkin regained cage control and began to work his patented front teep kicks to the body and thigh. Gonzalez fought back with single hooks at times but nothing significant came from them. Larkin landed a perfect low leg kick that Gonzalez countered on with a good left hook but it didn’t get though Larkin’s defense. “The Monsoon” Larkin was picking and moving with his shots, employing his game but when Gonzalez found an opportunity to flurry he took it and each traded strikes for a brief moment. Larkin quickly got back to controlling the pace and working his kicking game.

Free agent Lorenz Larkin is now allowed to negotiate with other promotions

Tom Taylor - November 21, 2016

In August of this year, Lorenz “The Monsoon” Larkin mauled long-time welterweight contender Neil Magny to a first-round TKO. In doing so, he improved his welterweight record to a strong 4-1, and established himself as one of the division’s very best fighters – the seventh best, according to the UFC rankings. Larkin’s defeat of Magny was significant for more reasons than the way it thrust him into the welterweight top-10, however. It also marked the final fight on his UFC contract. Having fought out his contract, the top-ranked welterweight announced his plans to test his value as a free agent.

EXCLUSIVE | Lorenz Larkin to the UFC: "Feed 'The Monsoon'! I'm Starving in These Riverside Streets!"

Tom Taylor - October 18, 2016

After a hot-and-cold run as a middleweight, Lorenz “The Monsoon” Larkin completely revivified his career with a drop to the UFC’s welterweight division. This drop to welterweight began with a blistering, first-round TKO of a game John Howard. His sophomore effort in the division, meanwhile, saw him take out Santiago Ponzinibbio with second-round punches. And though he experienced his lone welterweight hiccup in his next bout thereafter, giving up a razor-close split decision to Albert Tumenov, he has since rebounded from that loss with a decision victory over Jorge Masvidal and, most impressively of all, a first-round savaging of the highly regarded Neil Magny.
