Holly Holm's appeal of UFC 208 loss denied by NYSAC
Russell Ess - February 28, 2017
The inaugural UFC women’s featherweight championship ended with quite a bit of controversy. Germaine de Randamie landed some of the biggest shots of the fight on Holly Holm after the bell rang to signal the end of the round. It happened not once, but twice, coming at the end of rounds 2 and 3. It was enough so that the former UFC women’s bantamweight champion and her team filed for an appeal of the unanimous decision loss to de Randamie a few days after the fight.

Tyron Woodley: Holly Holm should take a break from fighting
Tom Taylor - February 15, 2017
Last weekend, in the main event of UFC 208, former women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm lost a controversial decision to Germaine de Randamie, failing her bid to become the UFC’s first ever female featherweight champion as a result. With this loss, Holm fell onto a three-fight losing streak, as she has was defeated by Miesha Tate and Valentina Shevchenko in her two next most recent bouts. On this unfortunate skid, Holm will undoubtedly have to do some self reflection. A fourth consecutive loss, after all, could be disastrous for her career, and might even result in her release from the UFC.
'Big' John McCarthy & Marc Goddard break down UFC 208 late strikes
bjpenndotcom - February 14, 2017
While this past weekend’s Holm vs. De Randamie main event was a good one, it was the UFC 208 late strikes that had fight fans talking. This past weekend at UFC 208, Germaine de Randamie and Holly Holm stepped into the Octagon for a highly anticipated scrap for the inaugural UFC women’s featherweight championship. The fight was an extremely competitive one, that ultimately saw De Randamie capture the inaugural title, defeating Holm via unanimous decision to claim the women’s featherweight title. With that being said, the fight was quite controversial, with Germaine De Randamie tagging Holm with big punches moments after the bell rang on two separate occasions. While many believe De Randamie should have lost points for the incidents, referees ‘Big’ John McCarthy and Marc Goddard both took to social media to explain why De Randamie didn’t lose points for the incidents:
Cyborg: "Everyone knows who the champ is at 145"
Tom Taylor - February 13, 2017
Last weekend, in the main event of UFC 208, Germaine de Randamie scored a controversial decision win over former bantamweight champ Holly Holm to become the UFC’s first ever women’s featherweight champion. De Randamie’s history-making win, however, had a massive shadow cast over it by one woman: Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino. Cyborg, who has not lost since her pro debut more than a decade ago, is far and away the best female featherweight on earth. Regrettably, several brutal cuts to 140 pounds and a December brush with the United States Anti-Doping Agency meant that she wasn’t able to participate in the UFC’s inaugural women’s featherweight title fight. Despite her absence from this historic bout, however, she is still widely regarded as the uncrowned featherweight queen.

This Saturday in the main event of UFC 208, Germaine de Randamie will step into the Octagon to fight former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm in a highly anticipated showdown for the inaugural women’s featherweight championship. While fight fans are certainly familiar with Holm due to her famous knockout win over Ronda Rousey at UFC 193, Randamie is still relatively young in the sport, with only 9 professional MMA fights. With that being said however, Randamie had a 37-0 professional kickboxing record before making the transition to MMA, making her an extremely experienced fighter.

Saturday evening in Brooklyn, New York, former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm will step into the Octagon against WMMA veteran Germaine de Randamie. The fight will not only be the first women’s featherweight fight in the UFC, but also the first UFC women’s featherweight title fight. Given that UFC President Dana White stated several months ago that there weren’t enough top ranked women fighting at featherweight to create a division, fans are wondering what the landscape of the featherweight division will look like with Cris Cyborg’s absence.

Mike Winkeljohn thinks Ronda Rousey is done fighting: Holly Holm broke her
Tom Taylor - February 3, 2017
Back in November of 2015, in the main of UFC 193, Holly Holm shocked the world by knocking out seemingly unbeatable women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey with a second-round head kick. Her victory was emphatic enough that it kept Rousey out of action for more than a year. Eventually, of course, Rousey made her long awaited return to the cage. She made this return in the main event of UFC 207, when she took on reigning women’s bantamweight queen Amanda Nunes. Regrettably for Rousey and her legions of fans, however, this comeback fight with Nunes would go even worse than her fight with Holm did, as she was mauled to a TKO in just 48 seconds.
Amanda Nunes eyes gold in two divisions
Tom Taylor - January 15, 2017
Not long ago, former women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm suggested that, if she wins her upcoming featherweight title fight with Germaine de Randamie, she’d then like to challenge Amanda Nunes for bantamweight gold. If she were to defeat Nunes in this prospective showdown, she’d join Conor McGregor as one of just two fighters in UFC history to hold titles in two weight classes concurrently. As it turns out, however, Nunes has similar hopes for her career. On Saturday evening, Nunes took to Twitter to request a shot at the winner of Holm and De Randamie’s looming featherweight title showdown, explaining that she too would like to enter the history books as a two-division UFC champion.

Leading up to UFC 207 on December 30th, where former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey made her highly anticipated return to the Octagon over a year after suffering the first defeat of her career at the hands of Holly Holm at UFC 193, where she lost the women’s bantamweight championship.
Holly Holm discusses possible rematch with Ronda Rousey
Tom Taylor - December 20, 2016
In November of last year, Holly Holm shocked the world by ending the seemingly unshakeable reign of long-time women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey. She did so with a highlight reel, second-round head-kick knockout. It was far and away the biggest moment of her career. Unfortunately, things have not gone well for Holm since then. In her first defense as champion, she gave up an early lead to surrender to a fifth-round rear-naked choke applied by Miesha Tate. In her next bout thereafter, Holm failed to get back on track, giving up a unanimous decision to Valentina Shevchenko in a fairly forgettable fight. These two losses have deflated most of the mystique she gained by knocking out Rousey.
