Poirier handled business as an underdog for his Miami scrap with Benoit Saint-Denis this past Saturday night. “The Diamond” and BSD collided inside the Kaseya Center. It wasn’t easy for Poirier in the early going, as Saint-Denis bull rushed him and had his back on a couple of occasions. Poirier did what he does best, and that’s bite down on the mouthpiece and send his opponent to dreamland. Poirier knocked his opponent out in the second round with a flush right hand.

“The Diamond” can now look ahead to the future and there are two potential names who fans might be interested in for Dustin.

Dustin Poirier On Possible Fight With Nate Diaz, Trilogy Against Justin Gaethje

During the UFC 299 post-fight press conference, Dustin Poirier mulled over two possible fights for him down the road.

“Man, I have no clue,” Poirier admitted. “Nate was a fight I always wanted. Gaethje hit me with the Hogan boot, so we might have to do it again. It’s tough to say, I don’t know.”

If Gaethje defeats Max Holloway at UFC 300, then he might find himself in another UFC Lightweight Championship tilt at some point. A loss against Holloway might increase the chances of a trilogy showdown against Poirier.

As for Nate Diaz, he and Poirier never got a chance to share the Octagon despite once being booked for a fight. The two have teased finally going one-on-one, but it hasn’t come to fruition. Diaz isn’t under UFC contract anymore, but he has vowed to return to the promotion.

We’ll keep you posted on Dustin Poirier’s future.
