Dana White claims Showtime did not want their sparring footage of Conor McGregor vs Paulie Malignaggi

Russell Ess - August 16, 2017

If the beef wasn’t enough between Conor McGregor and Paulie Malignaggi, bring in Dana White. White was the one to release a couple short clips of McGregor and Malignaggi’s second sparring match, which included the highly debated knockdown/push down. To follow things up after White posted the clips to his social media, the UFC President went on to say that Malignaggi left the camp “for his health because it was a 12-round, straight ass-whooping.”

Dana White: Paulie Malignaggi left Conor McGregor camp "for his health"

Tom Taylor - August 16, 2017

Paulie Malignaggi’s time as a part of Conor McGregor‘s training camp for Floyd Mayweather was brief. Just days into his work with McGregor, the former two-division boxing champ began feeling that he was being poorly portrayed by the Irish star and his entourage, and stormed out. At least, that’s the story Malignaggi has given. UFC President Dana White, who released some now infamous footage of McGregor dropping Malignaggi in a sparring session, offers a different telling of things. In his opinion, Malignaggi left team McGregor with his health in mind. In other words, he was being pieced up so badly in sparring that he left to spare himself from further punishment.

Paulie Malignaggi trashes "Pillsbury Dough Boy" Dana White

Tom Taylor - August 15, 2017

Former two-division boxing champ Paulie Malignaggi joined Conor McGregor‘s training camp with the intention of helping the Irish MMA star prepare for his boxing match with Floyd Mayweather Jr. Unfortunately, he left the camp after just a few sparring sessions, feeling that he’d been unfairly represented by the Irishman and his team. Not long thereafter, UFC President Dana White released footage that appeared to show McGregor dropping Malignaggi, confirming what McGregor and his camp had claimed, and poking holes in Malignaggi’s telling of the story.

Royce Gracie, Chuck Liddell, Anderson Silva, Jon Jones, and Conor McGregor are all likely names that many fans could bring up and make a solid case for.

Fabricio Werdum responds to criticism from Dana White

Tom Taylor - August 7, 2017

Last month, on the main card of UFC 213, former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum lost a majority decision to former Strikeforce, Dream and K-1 champ Alistair Overeem. That said, Werdum very nearly won the fight in the third, when he visibly rocked his foe. Unfortunately, the decorated grappler opted to ground the fight, rather than attempt to polish him off on the feet. The stoppage win eluded him as a result. Post-fight, Werdum’s refusal to try to finish Overeem on the feet generated some backlash from UFC President Dana White:

Dana White claims to have squashed beef with Tyron Woodley, Woodley responds

Tom Taylor - August 1, 2017

Over the weekend, Tyron Woodley defended his UFC welterweight title for a third time with a decision triumph over Demian Maia. Regrettably, the slow nature of Woodley’s win generated quite a bit of backlash, the most notable of which came from UFC President Dana White. On Monday’s edition of the MMA Hour, the welterweight champ defended his performance against Maia, and even threatened to leak sensitive information about the UFC boss.

Dana White and Tyron Woodley make peace after Woodley threatened to leak information

Russell Ess - August 1, 2017

UFC President Dana White was not happy with the UFC 214 welterweight title fight performance from Tyron Woodley, which took place over the weekend in Anaheim, California. White stated that Woodley and Maia set a record for the least amount of punches thrown in a five-round title fight. White also said that he thought Woodley could have taken some risks to finish Maia who had a very swollen eye from the first round that he likely could not see out of for the majority of the fight.

Jon Jones manager not concerned with rift between Jones and Dana White

Scott Hernandez - August 1, 2017

Prior to Jon Jones’ triumphant return to the Octagon this past Saturday in the main event of UFC 214, it was revealed that Jones and UFC President Dana White hadn’t talked since UFC 200, when Jones was pulled from the card for a potential USADA anti-doping violation just 48 hours before the fight was scheduled to take place. UFC President Dana White was understandably frustrated with the situation, and the rift between Jon Jones and Dana White grew. As previously stated, ahead of UFC 214, the rift continued to grow, as White stated that he hadn’t spoken to Jones since the incident. On the heels of the fight however, Jones’ manager, Malki Kawa spoke on The MMA Hour to discuss the rift between Jones & White, and why he isn’t overly worried about it, saying:

Tyron Woodley fires back at Dana White, threatens to leak information

Chris Taylor - July 31, 2017

Tyron Woodley retained his UFC welterweight championship this past weekend in Anaheim, scoring a unanimous decision victory over top division contender Demian Maia in the co-main event of UFC 214. “T-Wood” was able to shutdown all 21 of the Brazilian submission specialists takedown attempts while getting off enough offense to leave Maia with two badly swollen eyes.

Dana White threatens "whole other ball game" if Jon Jones fails to show up for UFC 214

Tom Taylor - July 26, 2017

Last year, former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones was pencilled in for a comeback fight opposite reigning champ and heated rival Daniel Cormier. Jones’ big-ticket comeback was expected to occur in the main event of UFC 200, which served as the crescendo of 2016’s International Fight Week in Las Vegas. Regrettably, Jones failed a drug test in the lead-up to this event, which meant that his main event battle with Cormier was scrapped at the last minute. In the wake of this biblical disaster, UFC President Dana White assured he would never trust Jon Jones to headlined a UFC card again.

Dana White on questionable May-Mac trash talk: I don't know if you can cross a line

Tom Taylor - July 16, 2017

Over the course of their four-day, four-city press tour, Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor generated countless headlines. Unfortunately, a great many of those headlines were rooted in the controversial comments they made to one another, as McGregor was criticized for comments that were perceived as racist, and Mayweather found himself under fire for homophobic comments. Yet according to UFC President Dana White, who was on site during these press events, it’s possible that no lines were crossed. “What’s going on here is as much of a fight as the fight itself,” White told MMAjunkie prior to to the final press event in London. “Mayweather has yet to meet his match physically, or verbally, in these type of situations – until now. These guys are two of the best to ever do it. To say you cross a line leading up to a fight? They’re going to try to knock each other unconscious in about a month and a half. So, I don’t know if you can actually cross a line in this business.”

Dana White not so confident on whether Conor McGregor will fight again after Mayweather bout

Russell Ess - July 12, 2017

Conor McGregor is already one of the highest-paid stars fighting in the UFC and could potentially make more in this single boxing match against Floyd Mayweather than he has in his entire mixed martial arts career. UFC President Dana White stated early on when negotiations were still going on that he estimated with his predicted numbers on how the fight sells, “The Notorious” would likely make around $75 million and Mayweather would make over $100. McGregor believes he will make over $100 million given that White’s estimates were based on conservative numbers for how the fight sells and didn’t include endorsements and his other business ventures that are tied to the mega money boxing match.

Tom Taylor - July 12, 2017

Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor‘s August 26 showdown is now less than a month and half away. To help build the hype for this monumental battle, the pair are participating in a four-stop, multi-city press tour. The first stop of this tour occurred last night, when the undefeated boxer and the mixed martial arts superstar met in the Staples Center in Los Angeles. UFC President Dana White was also in attendance, and in a post-fight conversation with the media, he dropped some interesting tidbits about the celebrities that might be attending the fight. “We’re still getting the ticket situation together,” White said of the complicated task of distributing tickets. “We’re still working on that. But everybody and their mother is looking for a ticket.”
