This past weekend in the main event of ‘UFC Fight Night: Nashville’, #4 ranked featherweight Cub Swanson picked up a unanimous decision win over SBG Ireland’s Artem Lobov in the main event of what proved to be a stellar card.

During the course of his fight with Lobov, Swanson does as he normally does, and managed to land some creative strikes, one of the most devastating being his spinning elbow strike from the clinch.

During a post-fight video for UFC on FOX, Swanson broke down the technique. Check out the video above!

For Swanson, the fight marked his second war over the last 6 months. In December, Swanson stepped into the Octagon with Doo Ho Choi for a highly anticipated featherweight showdown that wound up not only going the distance, but also gave fight fans a ‘Fight of the Year’ candidate.

Following his most recent win over Lobov, Swanson revealed that he would like to take some time off after his back to back wars. He spoke to MMAFighting to discuss the situation:

“I’m definitely going to take some time off, but I’m going to be training the whole time,” Swanson said. “I’ve got good people around. I enjoy training at this point in my career. I feel like I’m a lot smarter at it, I enjoy pushing myself, so I’ll be training. But realistically, fighting, probably not until late December or early next year.”

In addition to the fact that Cub Swanson was involved in back to back wars, he also has a baby on the way! The 33-year old MMA veteran will be expecting his firstborn child in August, and as a result will likely be on a hiatus from the Octagon until closer to 2018.

When he returns, he very well could be returning to a very different featherweight division depending on how UFC 211’s Jose Aldo vs. Max Holloway fight plays out.
