Scott Hernandez - December 6, 2016

Since UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor defeated Eddie Alvarez in the main event of UFC 205 last month to win the lightweight championship, talks of a potential Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather boxing match have continued to pick up steam. While McGregor will be sidelined until May with the upcoming birth of his child, talks of a McGregor-Mayweather boxing match currently have combat sports fans in an uproar. While some think a superfight between the two is a great idea for combat sports, others believe that given the fact that the two men compete in different sports, a fight should never take place.

While Holloway is focused on his upcoming battle with Pettis, he’s made no secret of the fact that he’s keen on a rematch with McGregor – even if that rematch occurs at heavyweight.

With this history making win in the books, McGregor has opted to take some time away from the sport to start a family with long-time girlfriend Dee Devlin. According to a report from the Irish publication The Sunday Life, however, the 28-year-old is staying plenty busy during his hiatus from fighting.

While some believe that McGregor’s precision striking, combined with the power in his left hand, would make for a successful transition to the boxing ring, others believe that regardless of his boxing abilities in MMA, McGregor doesn’t stand a chance against top ranked boxers, especially Floyd Mayweather.

Max Holloway wants Conor McGregor rematch, even at heavyweight

Scott Hernandez - December 1, 2016

As top ranked UFC featherweight Max Holloway gears up for his UFC 206 interim featherweight title fight with Anthony Pettis on December 10th in the main event of UFC 206 in Toronto, the streaking featherweight has his eyes set on a rematch with UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor, who just recently relinquished his featherweight championship. McGregor of course won the UFC featherweight championship a year ago when he knocked out reigning featherweight kingpin Jose Aldo in just 13 seconds at UFC 194. Over the course of the last 12 months, McGregor fought Nate Diaz twice at welterweight, losing the first fight, before then bouncing back and winning a majority decision back in August, and fought once at lightweight, where he captured the lightweight championship by TKOing Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 earlier this month.

Former boxing champion Paul Malignaggi calls out Conor McGregor

Scott Hernandez - December 1, 2016

This week news surfaced that UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor had been given a boxing license in California, which added quite a bit of fuel to the rumors regarding a potential Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather boxing match. Despite McGregor’s dominance inside the Octagon, and the fact that he was recently crowned the first ever simultaneous two-division UFC champion when he TKOd Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205, the NSAC denied his request for a boxing license until he can prove that he is qualified as a boxer to have one. With that being said however, the California State Athletic Commission has granted McGregor a boxing license, which theoretically would give him the ability to take a boxing fight in California in order to prove his qualifications to the NSAC, which would then result in him being approved for a boxing license in Nevada.

This week has been a busy one for UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor. After UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier withdrew from his scheduled UFC 206 headlining scrap with Anthony Johnson, the UFC opted to promote the co-main event fight between Max Holloway and Anthony Pettis to the main event, and make the fight for the interim featherweight championship. This meant that interim featherweight champion Jose Aldo had to be promoted to the undisputed featherweight champion, which resulted in Conor McGregor relinquishing his featherweight championship. Several days following that announcement, it was revealed that McGregor had been granted a boxing license in California, throwing fuel on the fire of rumors of a potential boxing fight with Floyd Mayweather.

Demetrious Johnson doesn't care about being above Conor McGregor on the pound-for-pound list

Tom Taylor - November 30, 2016

UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and UFC flyweight champion Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson have been neck-and-neck atop MMA’s pound-for-pound list for years. Now that Jon Jones is out of competition with a suspension, however, there is little denying that Mighty Mouse is MMA’s pound-for-pound king. According to Mighty Mouse, however, being the pound-for-pound best doesn’t mean all that much. In a recent interview with Fox Sports, Mighty Mouse addressed his place atop this speculative list.
