Conor McGregor Throws Another Jab at Featherweight Champ, Max Holloway

Drake Riggs - February 16, 2018

The current UFC lightweight champion, Conor McGregor has been out of the MMA scene for over a year now. Since he last stepped foot in the octagon, he stepped into the ring to face one of the greatest boxers of all time in Floyd Mayweather. Rumblings have been all over the place in regards to what McGregor’s next move will be. Whether it’s back in MMA, back in boxing or not even fighting at all. Whatever it may be, it hasn’t stopped “the Notorious” from throwing out several jabs on social media to his fellow possible opponents for a potential return to action. Most recently…current featherweight champion and former opponent, Max Holloway:

Justin Golightly - February 16, 2018

We know that Conor McGregor stepped in the boxing ring and fought Floyd Mawyeather to rake in an obscene amount of money, but even before that he was in an intense feud with another boxer. After a controversial knockdown during a training session with Paulie Malignaggi at the UFC Performance Institute got posted to Twitter, all hell broke loose. McGregor and Malignaggi went back and forth with trash talk, confronted each other in public, and were rumored to even be in talks for another boxing bout. After over six months, Malignaggi still has unfinished business with the Irishman. “I know I have the truth [about the knockdown video], so for me it’s funny to crack on [Conor McGregor] because I know it gets on his nerves, it gets on his fans nerves. [..] You know what world I come from? I come from Brooklyn in the Eighties and Nineties. If somebody is talking sh-t about you the way I’m talking sh-t about [McGregor], you gotta come see him. So, he’s gotta come see me. If he doesn’t like it, he can come see me. We don’t have to do it in the ring, we don’t have to do it in the cage, come see me. You come to New York, we can talk about it like two men. Come see me. Man to man. He’s gotta come see me because I’m just going to keep sh-tting on him.”

BREAKING | Conor McGregor's Coach Eyes A Potential Fight with Nate Diaz on New Year's Eve

Justin Golightly - February 15, 2018

All things come full circle. We’ve been awaiting Conor McGregor’s triumphant return to the UFC, but way back before the sweat dried from his boxing bout with Floyd Mayweather, Nate Diaz was expected to be his opponent when he came back. A lot has gone on since then, but now it seems the interest has been renewed along with Diaz’s anticipated return as well. However, there is a catch. While McGregor’s coach John Kavanagh would love a giant conclusion to their trilogy, he says that the winner between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson is next in line. “There’s a beautiful relationship between Conor [McGregor] and Nate [Diaz], in terms of there [being] a great back and forth between them outside of the cage and inside of the cage. It’s a lovely fight. His five-round rematch is still one of my favorite fights. That being said, I did assume that Nate would be as busy, or busier, than Conor. You know, Conor’s had an MMA fight and a boxing fight since. We haven’t seen Nate since so I started changing. You could see it among the fans who, I’ve always said and I still do believe, are the most important factor because they pay for the pay-per-views they want to see.”

Conor McGregor Could Have 'Real Fight' on Same Night After Beating Floyd Mayweather in MMA

Justin Golightly - February 15, 2018

While it’s good for his bank account, some fans despise the idea of another Conor McGregor fight simply for the spectacle of it all. Maybe if he didn’t still hold the UFC lightweight title, they’d be more lenient. Some just want to see him back in the UFC, whether he defends his title or not. No question the organization needs a little McGregor boost, which is why these superfights are being put together. However, coach John Kavanagh may have found a solution. What if McGregor actually fights Floyd Mayweather in MMA, but has a ‘real fight’ later that same night? “I’m kind of reminded of early last year when I was asked about the boxing fight and I was doubtful as anybody, and I actually went as far as to stupidly tweet that I’ll do the Irish river dance naked if Floyd steps in the Octagon. Now, I’m going to be honest, I’m practicing Irish dancing, and I’m getting nervous about that. In all seriousness, it’s a crazy world we live in. The fight that could never happen happened. And now this is a fight [in MMA] that can never happen, and it seems to be getting, I don’t know, there seems to be something forming there. I would absolutely love it.”

Joe Rogan breaks down MMA bouts between Floyd Mayweather and McGregor, CM Punk

Tom Taylor - February 14, 2018

Floyd Mayweather’s potential move to MMA is a seriously hot topic these days. Of course, it’s unlikely the legendary boxer would have much of a chance in the UFC’s Octagon – particularly against his arch rival Conor McGregor. Speaking on Tuesday’s edition of The Joe Rogan Experience MMA Show UFC commentator Joe Rogan broke down Mayweather’s chances of success in a potential MMA bout with McGregor. Unsurprisingly, he thinks they’re incredibly slim.

Over the last few months, there has been an eruption of buzz surrounding undefeated boxing legend Floyd Mayweather’s possible move to MMA. Of course, the chances of Mayweather actually moving to MMA seem almost non-existent, but the boxer has been having some fun playing with the idea on social media anyway, and his arch rival Conor McGregor has not shied away from getting involved in the conversation. Mayweather’s latest MMA-related social media post occurred over the weekend, when he posted a photoshopped image of himself elbowing Conor McGregor, inside an MMA cage, clad in TMT-branded MMA gloves.

Justin Golightly - February 1, 2018

Last year, Conor McGregor lit two worlds on fire with his multi-multi-million dollar crossover boxing match with Floyd Mayweather. He sailed the seven seas in yachts and set up multiple business ventures, but now he’s slowly but surely entering back into the public eye and hopefully the world of combat sports. This year, it’s Ronda Rousey who is on fire as she finally debuted as the newest WWE superstar. After being asked about the deal, the UFC’s ‘champ champ’ offered up words of praise, respect and congratulations to one gigantic superstar to another. “I’m delighted for [Ronda Rousey]. Absolutely over the moon for her. She looked like she really enjoyed herself at the event and I was very, very happy to see her. She’s a pioneer for the game and she’s came through it all and faced big wins and big, big losses and she came through it. It’s great to see her represent herself and mixed martial arts and have fun in the WWE. I know she’s been a big fan of it all her life. So, it’s great to see that.” — Conor McGregor speaking to Adam Glyn.

Conor McGregor discusses Floyd Mayweather and other options for MMA return

Tom Taylor - February 1, 2018

Over the last few days, undefeated boxing legend Floyd Mayweather has repeatedly eluded to a possible move to MMA. If Mayweather were to jump to MMA – an undeniably slim possibility – its hard to imagine he’d be welcomed by anybody but UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor. McGregor addressed the possibility of an MMA bout with Mayweather shortly after a charity gala he attended in New York City on Wednesday night.

Conor McGregor honored in NYC for charitable work with children's hospitals

Tom Taylor - February 1, 2018

UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor is not modest about the amount of money he’s made, or the lavish lifestyle it has afforded him. Interestingly, though, McGregor keeps quite quiet about the charitable work he does, and as it turns out, he does a lot.  Last night, McGregor attended the New York’s Children Medical Research Foundation 7th Annual Best of Ireland Gala in New York City, where he was honored for his substantial donations to the Our Ladies Children’s Hospital of Crumlin, in his native Dublin, Ireland.

Conor McGregor Drops a Lesson in Millionaire Money Management

Justin Golightly - January 31, 2018

Fire-spitting Lamborghinis. Mink coats. Cruising crystal seas on skyscraper yachts. It’s no question that Conor McGregor knows how to spend his money. It’s something that was a constant even before his multi-million dollar boxing bout with Floyd Mayweather. It’s something that McGregor flaunts, but is also self-aware about. He recently too to Instagram to speak about his spending, but also about managing the fortune he’s acquired in his short but incredibly profitable career thus far. “Here is today’s thoughts: Financial awareness is key at all times. Look at many of our favorite athletes and performers post career. Often it is not a pretty sight. [Mike] Tyson made over $300 million in his fighting career and today stands at a net worth of just $1 million. You must be switched on at all times with your money. We cannot switch off here. Know your money and where it is going at all times and never ever go broke, trying to look rich.  This is coming from me. I am the most flashiest. I just posted a picture on a yacht sipping Fiji water from an ice cold glass before this. But trust me, I am the most intelligent also.”

“This is not Conor belt,” Nurmagomedov said in reference to his UFC 223 main event against Tony Ferguson. “This is not interim Tony Ferguson belt. This is undisputed belt. And after when we fight April 7, April 8, they’re gonna make it official. Who wins becomes real champ. Now, Tony Ferguson is still interim champion. And Conor McGregor, they call him champion, but he isn’t champ. Whoever wins is gonna become real champ.

BREAKING | Coach Says The Plan is for Conor McGregor to Return This Year

Justin Golightly - January 24, 2018

Lightweight is on fire. Justin Gaethje is in the UFC. Eddie Alvarez is on a resurgence and carrying an unofficial ‘Most Violent’ title. Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson are once again booked to fight each other, which could potentially be for the undisputed lightweight title. Everything threatens to pass multi-millionaire ‘Champ Champ’ Conor McGregor by, but his coach recently waved his finger like no like Dikembe Mutombo. The plan is for McGregor to return to the UFC in 2018. “The landscape changes so much, so quickly when different offers come in. But if you were to put a gun to my head and ask me to say what’s next, I’d say it’s the UFC and it will be this year [that Conor McGregor returns]. There’s so much happening in the division and things changing around and what have you. I can’t say who, I can’t say when but as people who follow him on social media will see, he’s back, very motivated, training a lot. He’s in the gym every day. The plan seems to be forming and getting more exact every day that [he’ll be] back in the UFC this year. When and against who, I would be just guessing.” – Coach John Kavanagh on Facebook Live.

If Khabib Nurmagomedov wins the belt, he might deny Conor McGregor an immediate title shot

Tom Taylor - January 22, 2018

On April 7, interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson and undefeated contender Khabib Nurmagomedov will battle for a lightweight title. Will it be the interim title currently owned by Ferguson, or the undisputed title currently owned by Conor McGregor? Dana White was incredibly unclear when asked about this at a press conference in Boston, refusing to say whether the UFC will strip McGregor of his undisputed title, but also assuring the winner of this Ferguson-Nurmagomedov fight will be the champion… Whatever the case, Khabib Nurmagomedov has some interesting ideas if he wins. For one, the undefeated grappler seems to be considering denying Conor McGregor a shot at the title upon his long-awaited return to MMA.

VIDEO | Tony Ferguson Isn't Concerning Himself With Convoluted Lightweight Title Politics

Justin Golightly - January 20, 2018

< After the UFC 223 press conference yesterday, a lot of people were confused. Dana White has since tried to clarify, but the UFC’s lightweight title picture is still murky. Conor McGregor hasn’t been stripped, yet Tony Ferguson‘s upcoming fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov is for the undisputed belt. Basically, the UFC is waiting until McGregor gives them the word on whether he’ll defend his belt this year, which will then determine if UFC 223’s main event will be for an interim or the real gold strap. None of it matters to Ferguson though, in his mind, he’s already the real champ and has been since UFC 216. “That is exactly right. I am the undisputed [lightweight] champion. Regardless if [Conor] McGregor comes back or not, we know it was just a big show. The big fight is with me, my fight [with Khabib Nurmagomedov], which is at hand. I’m going to put my 10 fight win record in a row up to 11. What sounds better than 10 in a row? 11. What sounds better than 13 and 1? 14 and 1. So, regardless of what the company does or whatever with the belts, I’m still the champ. I don’t care. That’s [the UFC’s] politics. My politics is this inside that Octagon. So, I have management that will handle the business and do all the other things so I can focus on what’s really important. And that’s Team Tiramisu.”

Dana White on Conor McGregor and lightweight title picture: The division has to go on

Russell Sai - January 20, 2018

Dana White dodged answering if Conor McGregor will be stripped of his undisputed lightweight title during the Boston press conference On Friday leading up to UFC 220, which takes place today. Instead, White insisted that the winner of Tony Ferguson vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov “will be the champion.” However, White did state that McGregor’s ideal plan of returning to competition in the Octagon in the third or fourth quarter of 2018 is much too long of a time without an undisputed UFC lightweight title fight.
