According to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, the UFC is targeting women’s featherweight matchup between former Invicta FC champion Megan Anderson and Cat Zingano at UFC 232 on Dec. 29. The fight would serve as a backup to the UFC women’s featherweight title fight between champion Cris Cyborg and current bantamweight title holder Amanda Nunes.

Anderson (8-3 MMA) will be searching for her first victory in the octagon as she dropped a unanimous decision to former bantamweight champion Holly Holm at UFC 225 in her promotional debut. The loss snapped the 28-year-old’s four-fight win streak, which included wins over UFC veteran Peggy Morgan and Bellator standouts Amber Leibrock and Amanda Bell. Anderson has never lost back-to-back fights in her 10-fight career.

Zingano (10-3 MMA) moves up to featherweight for the first time in her UFC career and looks to make it two-straight wins for the first time since Sept. 2014. “Alpha” is coming off a unanimous decision win over Marion Reneau at UFC Fight Night 133 which snapped her three-fight losing streak. The former UFC bantamweight title challenger boasts wins over former 135-pound champion Miesha Tate, current bantamweight kingpin Nunes and former title challenger Raquel Pennington.

“Cyborg” Justino (20-1, NC) is currently riding a 20-fight unbeaten streak and hasn’t lost in the cage since her professional debut in May 2005. The former Invicta FC and Strikeforce champion is coming off a first-round TKO victory over Yana Kunitskaya at UFC 222, which pushed her UFC record to 5-0.

Nunes (16-4) moves up to featherweight for the first time since January 2011 and looks to become the first female two-division champion in UFC history. “The Lioness” carries a seven-fight win streak into this championship bout, including wins over Ronda Rousey, Miesha Tate and Valentina Shevchenko (twice).

UFC 232 will be headlined by a light heavyweight title rematch between former champion Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson on Dec. 29 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV.
