Tom Taylor - October 16, 2017
One of the biggest stories to emerge from the buildup of Conor McGregor‘s recent boxing match with Floyd Mayweather Jr. was his beef with Paulie Malignaggi. Malignaggi was originally brought into McGregor’s camp as a training partner, but after feeling as though he’d been unfairly represented by the Irishman and his team, he departed. Since then, Malignaggi has talked ceaseless trash about McGregor, and has even been campaigning for a fight with him. Now, he claims that the talks for this possible showdown with McGregor have begun, as his manager Al Haymon has reportedly reached out to UFC President Dana White.

The two had a couple of sparring sessions together after McGregor’s team asked Malignaggi to help “The Notorious” prepare for his professional boxing debut against Floyd Mayweather. Their training relationship came to an end after Malignaggi felt he was “exploited” with photos that made him look bad by Conor and his team.

Tom Taylor - October 2, 2017
On September 16, Gennady “GGG” Golovkin and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez stepped through the ropes for arguably the most important boxing match of the year. While the fight was a definite thriller, it unfortunately ended in controversy, as the judges ruled it a draw when the majority of the combat sports community believed GGG had done enough to win. While this controversial outcome was certainly disappointing, it also opened the door for a lucrative rematch between the two star pugilists. According to GGG promoter Tom Loeffler, however, there’s some doubt that this yet unscheduled rematch will actually occur in Las Vegas.

Report | Canelo-GGG did one of the best live gates ever for Las Vegas
Tom Taylor - September 27, 2017
Among casual combat sports fans, Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin’s September 16 boxing match didn’t generate quite the same tidal wave of hype as Floyd Mayweather’s battles with Conor McGregor and Manny Pacquiao. It did, however, manage some serious financial success all the same. According to a report from Jake Donovan on Twitter, Canelo-GGG set the third-highest live gate for Las Vegas at $27,059,850 from 17,318 tickets sold. Though Donovan’s original Tweet suggested the fight did the second-highest gate, he later corrected himself, admitting he forgot that Mayweather vs. McGregor had stolen the second-spot on the yet un-updated list.
