Oscar De La Hoya on “disgusting” Ali Revival Act Senate hearing, felt corrupt and “felt scripted”

Oscar De La Hoya did not mince words after his recent experience appearing at the Ali Revival Act Senate hearing. The Muhammad Ali American Boxing Revival Act was discussed during a hearing in Washington on Wednesday with several industry heavyweights there to speak their minds.
Senator Ted Cruz is set to bring this bill into the senate soon and big names like TKO higher up as well as WWE president and Zuffa Boxing promoter Nick Khan said his peace at the hearing. Khan posited that the shifts in the Act would ultimately create a bigger influx of capital into the sport but not everyone was convinced, to say the least.
The language in the litigious amendments are seen as quite favourable to the wealthy promoters and not to the actual fighters. Many see the situation as TKO aiming to fight for monopsonist power in a third industry with their Zuffa Boxing endeavour on the rise after previously overtaking two industries with UFC and WWE under their umbrella.

Names like Oscar De La Hoya and Ali’s grandson Nico Ali Walsh appeared at the hearing though and they advocated for the combatants who would be affected by sweeping changes in the legislation. Post-Ali Revival Act hearing, in a clip shared to X account @EverythingBoxi2, ‘Golden Boy’ discussed how he got back from Washington and was super tired by the entire ordeal.
The 53- year-old also made a point to thank Nico for fighting the good fight, as he put it, and as the former multi-division champion further reflected on how the Ali Revival Act hearing went down, De La Hoya said,
“We walked into a buzzsaw, it was crazy. Chairman [Ted] Cruz, we meet him beforehand and all he can talk about was President Donald Trump and what a great time they had at the UFC event. The questions felt scripted. I mean the corruption that I felt in the room was just disgusting. Look, I have videos next week that I will show you. I will put together all of the lies that Nick Khan told. It’s gonna be pretty interesting but I can’t wait for next week.”
