Ronda Rousey and Jake Paul are being chastised by retired UFC star Matt Brown following their recent comments.

Rousey made her comeback fight against Gina Carano to headline the MVP MMA 1 card, which was promoted by Paul. “Rowdy” scored a quick armbar finish, and the show drew 17 million viewers on Netflix. Recently, Paramount touted the same viewership for UFC Freedom 250, but the global numbers have yet to be released.

Paul and Rousey took a victory lap over the viewership, and Rousey hurled another dig at UFC chief business officer Hunter Campbell in the process. Brown responded to the reaction during an edition of MMAFighting‘s “The Fighter vs. The Writer,” and he questioned what is there to gloat about.

“I don’t know what they’re celebrating there,” Brown said. “It’s already forgotten that card happened. The only reason we’re talking about it now is because they’re doing their victory lap or whatever. I don’t know what Ronda’s trying to get out of instigating [with] Hunter Campbell. Dude’s got a nice salary, he lives a good life I’m sure, he’s working on building big things, I don’t know what are you doing? What do you think you just accomplished?

“I highly doubt Hunter Campbell is [sitting around saying] ‘oh shit, they got more viewers than us, what are we going to do?’ No, he’s eating dinner at a five-star Michelin restaurant and talking to his buddies and about the Conor McGregor-Max Holloway fight. I don’t know where these people think that this stuff actually matters that much.”

Paul and Most Valuable Promotions have teased plans to hold more MMA events in the future. MVP CEO Nakisa Bidarian told reporters that he plans to have Rousey be an integral part of the promotion’s MMA push whether she decides to stay retired or return to competition.
