Josh Thomson recently took out a top lightweight contender and former title challenger with relative ease. Daniel Cormier reeled off an impressive UD victory over a two-time former champion and of course, there is Cain Velasquez, who recently exacted vengeance over the only man to defeat him and he recaptures his UFC title in the process.
Next up for the fight team is a May 18th main event between Luke Rockhold and Vitor Belfort on the FX network.
Vitor is a former world champion and Rockhold is the last reigning Strikeforce champion who had hoped to enter the UFC with a title unification bout against Anderson Silva.
For Rockhold however, Vitor Belfort is the next best thing.
“I love it [the match up with Belfort]. It’s pretty much the next best thing to Anderson Silva. Vitor Belfort’s a legend — I think he’s probably the second best in the division and I’m going to go out there and I’m going to make my presence felt and I want to get to that belt as fast as possible and I think Vitor’s a great opportunity.”
