Boxing’s leading lady, Holly Holm, is hanging up her boxing gloves permanently to enter the world of Mixed Martial Arts as a full-time job.

She is an 18-time, three-division boxing world champion who has only suffered defeat twice in 37 pro-fights. She also boasts an undefeated 3-0 record as a Mixed Martial Artists.

The news of her boxing retirement to pursue MMA full-time comes at a time when WMMA is being accepted by the entire MMA world and she addressed her decision at a news conference following her most recent MMA victory under the Bellator banner.

ESPN covered the story:

The 31-year-old Albuquerque boxer is focusing on MMA just as the sport is beginning to embrace female fighters. In February, Ronda Rousey and Liz Carmouche made history by fighting in UFC’s first women’s bout.

“I sleep good at night knowing that I’ve challenged myself over my career rather than just take what’s supposed to be easy,” Holm said at a news conference. “I feel like my passion’s just going to MMA.”
