Donald Cerrone had a successful debut at Welterweight about a month ago and hopes to continue at UFC Fight Night 89. The UFC should be announcing this fight very soon.

It looks like Cerrone will be facing Canadian star Patrick Cote in Ottawa Ontario, Canada June 18. The pair will co-headline the event and is expected to air on FoxSports 1 and stream on UFC Fight Pass.

MMAFighting first reported the news.

The headlining bout will be a crucial Welterweight matchup between
Canada’s Rory MacDonald and Stephen Thompson. The winner of that bout should be next in line to face Champion Robbie Lawler.

Cerrone wanted to face Conor McGregor at UFC 196 when dos Anjos injured his foot but that match went to Nate Diaz instead.

Cote has had new life at the Welterweight division going 5-1 and wining his last 3 fights.Cote previously spent 13 fights at the UFC’s Middleweight division.
