Jake Paul is telling UFC fighters to ‘wake up’ after Donald Cerrone revealed his fight purse from Conor McGregor bout.

‘Cowboy’ Cerrone (36-17 MMA) retired from the UFC in July of 2022 after going down to defeat against Jim Miller (37-17 MMA) at UFC 276. Prior to that loss, the veteran fighter had been on a turbulent losing streak for the past three years, going down to defeat against the likes of Tony Ferguson, Justin Gaethje, Conor McGregor, Anthony Pettis and Alex Morono.

Dan Canobbio, host of ‘Inside Boxing Live’ posted to ‘X‘ this morning a video with the tagline:

Cerrone: “I was only paid $200k to fight Conor McGregor in a PPV that did 1.3M buys.”

A humble Donald Cerrone, in the video, discussed his contract with the UFC, saying:

“I signed up for an 8-fight deal. I’m locked into that. It’s not like 3 fights in, it’s time to renegotiate because I’m fighting Conor, you still have 4 more fights on your contract. I made great money.”

It was McGregor (22-6 MMA) vs. Donald Cerrone in January of 2020 at UFC 246. The result was a TKO victory for McGregor at 0:40 of round 1. The Irishman went home with a $3 million fight purse. The ‘Cowboy’ earned a mere $200K.

Jake Paul has been very outspoken about the inequity of fighter pay in the UFC and is weighing in on the very inadequate fight purse Cerrone received for fighting McGregor back in 2020.

Taking to ‘X’, the ‘Problem Child’ posted the following:

“Fighters need to wake up. Cowboys is legend. Put in years and years of work. Massive veteran. The event probably did $80M in revenue.”

Paul is currently preparing for his next boxing match which will take place on Saturday, March 2nd, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, when he gets in the ring with Ryan Bourland.

Do you agree with Jake Paul that UFC fighters need to ‘wake up’ and fight for proper purses?
