On Saturday night, the UFC took over beautiful Sacramento, California with UFC on Fox 22. Over the course of this 13-fight card, we saw several memorable moments unfold.
Perhaps the most significant of these moments was the retirement of MMA legend Urijah Faber, who defeated England’s Brad Pickett by decision on the main card. Other highlights included Michelle Waterson’s abrupt submission defeat of Paige VanZant in the main event, and Mickey Gall’s upset of Sage Northcutt in the co-main event.
Another highlight of the UFC on Fox 22 broadcast occured between fights, when bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz and number one contender Cody Garbrandt were given the chance to talk some trash ahead of their December 30 title fight. The two fan favorites did not waste this opportunity.
“He’s got a big head right now,” Cruz said of Garbrandt during this exchange. “He’s got a big chin too, and I think that chin is very nice and weak. How many times have you been hospitalized for concussions, Cody? I think you’ve got a weak chin boy, you’ve got that weak chin boy. These little pillow hands were able to put down your boy [Urijah] Faber so watch what happens that I’m gonna do to you.”
“Look at your legs man,” Garbrandt retaliated. “Your legs got no wheels, bro, how you gonna run from me in there? I’m gonna track you down, I’m a savage in there. I’ll find it. Look at that big head.”

Cruz will enter this bout having reclaimed the bantamweight title from TJ Dillashaw in January of this year, and defended it against Urijah Faber in June. He’s 22-1 overall.
Garbrandt, on the other hand, will step onto the canvas having scored first-round knockouts over Takeya Mizugaki, Thomas Almeida and Augusto Mendes in his three most recent bouts. He’s a perfect 10-0 in sum.
