Conor McGregor discusses Jose Aldo’s feud with the UFC

By Chris Taylor - October 15, 2016

UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor did a Facebook interview with The LAD Bible on Friday and was asked the following question by a fan who wrote in “Jose Aldo really wants a rematch, do you feel you will ever give him a rematch?”

“Mystic Mac” responded to the question with an interesting theory:

“You know, I don’t think he wants the rematch. I think he is happy with this feud and this get out clause. You know what I mean. I knocked him out and then came back and won a decision. He has an interim belt. I think he wants this kind of feud with the UFC. He wants to just separate himself… Because he doesn’t want this again.”

McGregor starched Jose Aldo with a 13-second knockout in the pairs first meeting at UFC 194.

Since then, Aldo has been obsessed with getting a rematch against “The Notorious” in hopes of earning some redemption.

Prior to his shocking loss to McGregor last December, Aldo was riding an incredible eighteen fight win streak which included seven UFC featherweight title defenses.

The legendary Brazilian fighter was most recently seen in action at July’s blockbuster UFC 200 event in Las Vegas, where he scored a unanimous decision victory over former lightweight title holder Frankie Edgar, capturing the UFC’s interim featherweight strap in the process.

After news broke that Conor McGregor would be challenging Eddie Alvarez for the UFC’s coveted lightweight title, this while still being able to keep his featherweight belt, Jose Aldo snapped and announced he was retiring from the sport of mixed martial arts while requesting his release from the promotion.

UFC President Dana White is expecting to meet with Aldo next week and remains hopeful that he can convince the Brazilian champion to take another fight.

However, Aldo has stated that he wouldn’t fight for the UFC again even if they offered him his much desired rematch with “The Notorious”.

What do you make of Jose Aldo’s standoff with the UFC. Do you think Conor McGregor has a point with his assessment of the situation or is “Mystic Mac” just trolling? Sound off PENN Nation!
