Cris Cyborg has 5 fights left on her contract with Invicta FC and the future is wide open for the Invicta champ, or is it? With that many fights left historically Cyborg hasn’t done to well, it took her over four years to fight five times.
Recently Joe Rogan gave an interview with MMA Junkie:
“She may have been the best, but she was mostly using judo. MMA keeps growing and more complete fighters keep showing up. This is similar to how the men’s divisions used to be. I think making movies is best for her. I think the Holly Holm fight was a wakeup call. I think it brought her back down to earth. We always learn a lot from losses.
“But she did a lot for women’s MMA. We owe her thanks. She broke many barriers and took women’s MMA to new places. She opened many doors. I think MMA grew because of her. But she needs to do what’s best for her now. The belt is in good hands with Holly Holm. Hopefully they’ll fight eventually.”
Well for a huge fan of Rousey, sounds like Rogan is willing to let the former champ walk off into the Hollywood sunset. Maybe Rogan is just looking out for the former champs well being and stop her from potentially having a second brutal loss on her record.
Will Cyborg make it to the UFC down the road? With Cyborg showing no signs of making 135 will we see the women’s featherweight division open up before her contract expires with Invicta FC?
