Yoel Romero isn’t done adding names to his hit list before stepping away from MMA.

While Romero is 49 years old, he appears to be aging better than most within the combat sports space. This past Friday, “Solider of God” scored a scintillating first-round finish over Alex Nicholson, who was a late replacement opponent. Romero was scheduled to face fellow ex-UFC bruiser Hector Lombard, who was pulled from the fight as he felt the time for preparation wasn’t adequate enough.

As of late, Romero has won his last two MMA bouts and he earned two victories under the Dirty Boxing Championship banner. He’s even had two freestyle wrestling matches for RAF. Romero spoke to Danny Segura on MMAJunkie‘s “Hablemos MMA” podcast, and he wants to stay active in combat sports for the next three years.

“I am ready for everyone. I’m ready for them all,” Romero said. “The Olympic cycle is four years, and I have three left. This is the first year of four. I’m giving it my all and preparing myself way better. If before I prepared well, now it carries an extra, so I can get to my Olympic games – which is to fight until I get to 52. You guys will see, and you guys will be amazed. Listen, I’m talking about important things. You guys will see what I do in these next four years.”

Romero then promised to deliver even more exciting finishes before his retirement tour concludes.

“Brother, I’m going to assassinate my opponents,” Romero said. “With God’s forgiveness, I’m assassinating them. I was told at home to let the blood run. It was my daughter and my wife.”

With Yoel Romero still going strong near the age of 50, who do you want to see him in action against next? Does rebooking the Hector Lombard fight intrigue you? Tell us in the comments below.
