Michael Bisping hopes Robert Whittaker "beats the brains out of Yoel Romero"
Tom Taylor - May 23, 2017
From the sounds of it, Michael Bisping’s much discussed middleweight title defense against former welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre will not happen. If it does happen, it won’t be until the fall, as St-Pierre will not be available until then. Though this might give the impression that Bisping will defend his title against Yoel Romero or Robert Whittaker sometime this summer, Bisping has instead announced that he’s dealing with some nagging injuries, and that he probably won’t be available for a fight for some time. To combat this complicated situation at middleweight, the UFC is reportedly considering a Yoel Romero vs. Robert Whittaker interim middleweight title fight to keep the division moving. This fight, of course, would be of particular interest to the undisputed champion Bisping.
UFC considering interim middleweight title fight for summer
bjpenndotcom - May 19, 2017
The ongoing saga of the UFC middleweight title has continued to be an extremely confusing one. Although the UFC kicked off 2017 by announcing a middleweight title fight between middleweight champion Michael Bisping and former welterweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre scrap for later this year, it was then revealed by St-Pierre that he would be willing to fight Bisping any time after October. Given that didn’t fit the initial timeline given by Michael Bisping, UFC President Dana White stated that Bisping would be defending his belt against Yoel Romero instead. Bisping then revealed that his knee was still injured, and that he would be unable to defend his belt this summer anyway.

Russell Ess - May 15, 2017
UFC President Dana White shocked quite a few people announcing that the UFC middleweight title fight between champion Michael Bisping and Georges St-Pierre is no longer happening. White added that Yoel Romero is now getting the shot against Bisping and the opening odds are not favoring the current champion. According to the Sportsbook odds via Best Fight Odds, Romero is heavily favored in the UFC middleweight title fight at -350 while Bisping is at +270. For those unfamiliar with betting odds, you would have to wager $350 on Romero to win $100 or $100 on Bisping to win $270.

Bisping vs. St-Pierre plans scrapped, Yoel Romero now gets next middleweight title shot
Tom Taylor - May 11, 2017
Several months ago, we learned that Georges St-Pierre and the UFC had squashed their differences, and that the former welterweight champion would be receive an immediate middleweight title shot against Michael Bisping upon his return. While this news was somewhat controversial, as St-Pierre’s shot deprived many of the middleweight division’s top contenders of their deserved shots, it was also met with widespread excitement. Unfortunately, the UFC could not seem to lock down a date for this Bisping vs. St-Pierre middleweight title fight. Though Bisping repeatedly said he hoped the fight would occur during International Fight Week in July, St-Pierre suggested he couldn’t fight until the fall, and ultimatately, until after October.

Tom Taylor - March 29, 2017
When reigning UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping agreed to defend his title against returning former welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre, it left several far more deserving middleweight contenders out in the cold – none more so than Yoel Romero. The former Olympic wrestler Romero is currently undefeated in the UFC, having gone 8-0 in his first eight bouts with the promotion. Over the course of this impressive run, he’s defeated game opposition such as Derek Brunson, Tim Kennedy, Lyoto Machida, Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, and most recently, Chris Weidman. At a glance, this would seem like more than enough to earn him a shot at gold. Unfortunately, St-Pierre’s title shot deprives him of this opportunity for the time being.

Last night, however, the Cuban contender was given some cause for optimism, as Bisping suggested he was not willing to wait until the fall to fight St-Pierre, and that he is prepared to fight Romero in the meantime.
