By Tom Taylor - July 24, 2018

UFC 230, which goes down on November 3 inside New York City’s hallowed Madison Square Garden, has grown by one absolutely dynamite matchup, as former UFC middleweight title challenger Yoel Romero is set to collide with surging knockout artist Paulo Costa.

This bout was announced by the UFC on Tuesday afternoon.

Yoel Romero last fought in June, when he gave up a decision to reigning UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker in the main event of UFC 225. Romero missed weight for this fight.

Yoel Romero also missed weight for his next most recent bout, a February knockout of former champion Luke Rockhold. Rockhold’s third most recent bout, finally, was his first fight with Whittaker, which went down in July of 2016. Romero also lost this fight by decision. The hulking Cuban wrestler, who recently flirted with a potential move to the 205-pound light heavyweight division, is 13-3 as a pro.

Paulo Costa, meanwhile, is a flawless 12-0 overall. He last fought at UFC 226 in early July, when he knocked out Uriah Hall in the second round of a wild fight. In his next most recent fight, Costa knocked out former UFC welterweight champion Johny Hendricks. Beyond that, he knocked out Oluwale Bamgbose, and Garreth McLellan in his Octagon debut. Costa is the former Jungle Fight middleweight champ.

UFC 230 will also feature two other incredible middleweight fights, as former World Series o Fighting champ David Branch takes on former Strikeforce champ Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, and former champions Chris Weidman and Luke Rockhold meet in a long-awaited rematch.
