Fetching content The circumstances surrounding the UFC 223 main event could not be more dramatic. Just days ago, it looked like Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov might actually step into the cage together in the Saturday card’s main event, but then the unthinkable happened. Ferguson was forced out of the fight with a freak leg injury—on April Fools of all days—resulting in the bout’s fourth cancellation. Ferguson was then replaced by a ballsy UFC featherweight champ in Max Holloway, who steps up on just six days notice.

Tom Taylor - March 26, 2018
Fetching content In the lead-up to UFC 220’s heavyweight title showdown between champion Stipe Miocic and challenger Francis Ngannou, much was made of Ngannou’s absurd, fight-ending punching power. In the promotional material for this fight, the UFC attempted to attach a number to Ngannou’s ridiculous knockout power by having him punch the UFC Performance Institute’s PowerKube, which claims to measure the force of a given blow. In a rather unsurprising twist, Ngannou set a new record on this machine, surpassing kickboxer Tyrone Spong’s previous record with a score of 129,161.
VIDEO | John Cena Claims Conor McGregor in the WWE Would 'Put Him Out of Work'
Justin Golightly - March 20, 2018
What in the world is Conor McGregor going to do? He can fight the winner of Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson after UFC 223, the trilogy with Nate Diaz is always there, arguably the biggest potential fights though are with Georges St-Pierre or another exhibition bout with Floyd Mayweather. Or, he could always just go into pro wrestling. John Cena, who’s accomplishments in pro wrestling are longer than this article, believes McGregor would be amazing at it. “[Conor McGregor] would do fantastic [in the WWE]. Hell, he would put me out of work. He gets the entertainment aspect of sport and I think he gets it as good, or better, than anyone else. The way he promoted the fight against [Floyd] Mayweather; that’s what we do. He did it as good, or better, than us. I hope one day, if you’re out there watching and you want to come to WWE, he would be a fantastic WWE superstar, but again that’s out of my hands.” — John Cena speaking to Entertainment.ie.

Justin Golightly - March 19, 2018
We said it wouldn’t happen. We said it didn’t make any sense. We made fun of people that thought it was going down. Sound familiar? This is how nearly the entire planet felt about a boxing match between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor, but it manifested itself nevertheless. It seems like Mayweather making his MMA debut could be following the same pattern. “[I haven’t applied for my MMA license] yet. Not yet, but everything takes time. Eventually we’re gonna apply for the license and hopefully we can fight [in the UFC]. We probably need a little bit longer [than three months to get ready for my first MMA fight]. A little bit longer. Even if it takes six to eight months, whatever it takes, we want to make sure everything is done correctly and everything is done the right way.” — Floyd Mayweather speaking to TMZ Sports.

VIDEO | John Phillips Gives an MTV Cribs Style Tour of His Caravan Ahead of UFC London Debut
Justin Golightly - March 14, 2018
You may not know who John Phillips is, but chances are you will after UFC London this weekend. He’s been waiting for his shot at the UFC for over a year now. With his UFC debut mere days away, Phillips can finally say he’s made it to the big leagues after successful fights in Cage Warriors and BAMMA. So where is a guy who is about to fight for the biggest MMA organization in the world staying? In a caravan parked in his coach’s yard. “When I first came over [to Ireland] I stayed in an Airbnb. It cost me a lot of money and I couldn’t really afford it if I was going to be here full time. […] I came up with a plan that I would sell my jeep and buy a mobile home. […] It was actually okay for a day or two. I guess when most people use this kind of living space they’re on holidays. They’re out for the whole day with the missus and they only have to come home and sleep in it — they only spend a very short amount of time in it. I was in that f-ckin’ thing for three months solid. I could’ve done more research. I just got a van that I liked the look of.”

VIDEO | Dana White Calls Brian Ortega to Tell Him He's Fighting Max Holloway
Justin Golightly - March 7, 2018
After Brian Ortega’s historic finish of former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar, there wasn’t really any doubt that he deserved the right to challenge Max Holloway for that featherweight title. However, we all know that nothing is certain in this world, especially in combat sports. One phone call can change all that and that’s what this video is all about. Check out Ortega smiling ear-to-ear reacting to Dana White calling him to tell him he’s got the shot. “I heard 227 in August was supposed to be UFC Hawaii, but I Tweeted 226 because you know, I gotta move on. You can’t hold this stuff forever, I can’t hold my breath. I got a life, I got a family to take care of, I got a little kid, I got fans. If I can’t get UFC Hawaii I said, the Ninth Island is the next best thing. It’s tough pill to swallow but at the end of the day, it is what it is. We can’t control nothing. All we can do is create buzz. I’d like to thank all the fans who are creating buzz.” — Max Holloway speaking to KHON 2.
