Valentina Shevchenko responds to Amanda Nunes after UFC 322 win: ‘She likes to talk a lot’

Valentina Shevchenko has fired back at Amanda Nunes.
After Shevchenko defended her flyweight title in a one-sided decision win over Zhang Weili at UFC 322, Nunes claimed she would drop down to flyweight to beat Shevchenko up again. It was a bold comment, and following her win, Shevchenko welcomed the challenge and fired back at Nunes.
“Let’s do it, Amanda. Come on. 125,” Shevchenko said to Ariel Helwani. “Yeah, let’s do it. Maybe Kayla Harrison will want to go down to 125 and do it as well. I welcome everyone.”
Nunes dropping down to flyweight would be a major surprise, given she had some problems making 135lbs in the past, resulting in her move to featherweight.

With that, Valentina Shevchenko is unsure Amanda Nunes would drop down to flyweight. But, if she does, she would be interested in the trilogy and fighting the Brazilian again.
However, Shevchenko isn’t sure if Nunes even fights again, as she believes she’s just talking.
“It depends. There are all these circumstances that have to come in,” Shevchenko said. “For now, she likes to talk a lot, and she feels secure. When you’re behind the wall and no one can get to you. She’s still kind of in the half of her retirement. Still saying she’s coming back, but nothing for sure. She feels safe to speak now, and that’s why you cannot ever trust when people speak that much.”
Shevchenko and Nunes fought back in 2016 and 2017, with the Brazilian winning both fights by decision, with the latter by split. Both fights were close, and many fans have wanted to see the trilogy, and it could end up happening at a surprise weight class.
Valentina Shevchenko (26-4-1) is coming off a decision win over Zhang Weili to defend her belt. Before that, she beat Manon Fiorot to defend her belt and beat Alexa Grasso to reclaim her title.
