Back in July, in the main event of UFC 226, Daniel Cormier claimed the UFC heavyweight title with a first-round knockout of dominant champion Stipe Miocic. Since then, Miocic has been adamant that his previous accomplishments should earn him an immediate rematch with Cormier. Miocic continued on his mission to goad Cormier into a rematch on Twitter this week.

Tony Ferguson has long been confident that he could defeat former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion Conor McGregor in the UFC’s Octagon. Speaking on Twitter late on Tuesday night, however, El Cucuy proclaimed that he could also beat the Irish striker in the boxing ring. I feel I do my best against “Southpaws”. Most of my finishes are against them w/ style points. I feel if I were to fight @TheNotoriousMMA in a cage or boxing match my “Athleticism” & “Conditioning” would be too much for the Irishman & he would easily break in a Few Rounds 🇺🇸🏆🇲🇽

Arnold Berdon, the husband of UFC fighter Rachael Ostovich, has been arrested on an attempted murder charge, according to reports from TMZ and MMA Fighting. Berdon, who is also an MMA fighter, is currently in custody. Speaking to MMA Fighting, a spokesperson from the Honolulu Police Department confirmed that the charge against Berdon could still change as the investigation is ongoing.

To do this, Ponzinibbio knows he has to be the welterweight champion and then defeat arguably two of the pound-for-pound best in Georges St-Pierre and Conor McGregor. Ponzinibbio most recently fought last weekend in his home country of Argentina in which he defeated Neil Magny by fourth-round TKO. The win should catapult Ponzinibbio into the top-eight if not higher in the rankings. However, he believes he deserves the next title shot, and then a fight with McGregor and St-Pierre.

Last Saturday night, on the undercard of UFC Argentina, American lightweight Devin Powell stepped into the cage with Peru’s Jesus Pinedo. In the end, Powell lost this fight by unanimous decision. Apparently, however, this defeat was the least of his worries. Mid-way through the second round, Powell says he sustained a hematoma inside his eye. This caused his eye to fill up with blood, rendering him temporarily blind in that eye.

Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz’s trilogy fight is just around the corner. The fight, which is being promoted by Oscar De La Hoya and Golden Boy Promotions, goes down this Saturday, November 24. As this trilogy fight between the two MMA legends looms on the horizon, many members of the MMA community are quite excited. Others, however, would prefer to see Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz sticking to their retirement plans.

At a glance, it was the perfect way to rebound from an undeniably tough year. Unfortunately, Calvillo missed weight for the fight, which has caused significant outrage among the sport’s often unforgiving fans. Speaking on The MMA Hour on Monday, Cynthia Calvillo responded to this backlash from fans. She says she feels the weigh-in miss has diminished her performances, and that she’s eager to move on with her next fight.

Ever since Covington defeated Rafael Dos Anjos in June to win the promotions interim belt, fans and analysts have been debating if “Chaos” is the man to dethrone “The Chosen One”. On The Ultimate Fighter 28 the biggest rivalry of the season is between Juan Espino and Maurice Greene. The two simply hated each other and got into several verbal exchanges in the house. As well, they nearly got into fights at the gym and in the house. Luckily for them, they get to settle their differences inside the Octagon when they fight each other in the semi-finals. The outcome of the fight will be revealed on Wednesday’s episode.

The UFC had a very, very difficult time locking down a main event for UFC 230, which went down earlier this month in New York City’s famous Madison Square Garden. While the card’s headlining spot was ultimately filled by a heavyweight title fight between champ Daniel Cormier and challenger Derrick Lewis, there were reportedly also discussions of a welterweight main event between interim champ Colby Covington and Nick Diaz. While Colby Covington says he would have been willing to fight Nick Diaz in the UFC 230 main event, the fight never came together. And now he says Diaz has missed his chance.
