Joanna Jedrzejczyk to be inducted into UFC Hall of Fame

Former UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk will be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame.

The UFC announced the induction during the broadcast of UFC 299 on Saturday, which took place in Miami, Florida.

Joanna Jedrzejczyk is one of the best female fighters of all time as she was the strawweight champion from 2015 until 2017. The Pole had defended her title five times and is considered arguably the greatest strawweight of all time.

It also shouldn’t be a surprise that Jedrzejcyzk will be inducted into the Hall of Fame, as back in 2022, UFC CEO Dana White made it clear that the longtime strawweight champ would be in the Hall of Fame sooner rather than later.

“Oh, without a doubt. (She was) one of the women who helped build women’s MMA, especially in the UFC – always fun to watch, always came to fight,” White said at a post-fight press conference. “Her walk in that night when she got to the arena, (was) gangster as usual. I love everything about Joanna, and I’m glad that she fought and ended her career here with us.”

Joanna Jedrzejczyk announced her retirement from MMA following a knockout loss to Zhang Weili.

“It’s been 20 years. I’m turning 35 this year. I want to be a mom. I want to be a businesswoman. I’ve been training for two decades, more than half of my life. I appreciate you all. I love you guys,” Jedrzejczyk said in the Octagon after UFC 275.

In her MMA career, Joanna Jedrzejczyk went 16-5 and ended her career on a two-fight losing skid. She suffered a KO loss to Weili after a hard-fought split decision loss to Zhang for the straight title in one of the greatest fights of all time.

Jedrzejczyk began her MMA career with a record of 14-0, as she won the UFC title in her ninth pro fight and third UFC fight as she defeated Carla Esparza by TKO. In her career, she holds notable wins over Jessica Andrade, Claudia Gadelha, Karolina Kowalkiewicz, and Michelle Waterson among others.
