Joanna Jedrzejczyk is admitting that it’s ‘really difficult’ to stick with her retirement decision.

Joanna Jedrzejczyk

Jedrzejczyk (16-5 MMA) is a former strawweight champion, with a record-setting five title defenses on her resume.

The 36-year-old will be officially inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame this coming June. Jedrzejczyk is only the second woman to receive such an honor, the first being Ronda Rousey (12-2 MMA) in 2018.

The announcement of her upcoming induction was made during the UFC 299 broadcast earlier this month.

Most recently, from her home in Poland, Joanna Jedrzejczyk spoke with Tom Taylor of Bleacher Report where she shared her joy as well as her mixed emotions concerning accepting the honor:

“That’s why I was crying. Honestly, there is no day I’m not thinking about coming back. I want to stay loyal and stick to my decision (to retire), but it’s really difficult. I am happy, but there is something missing (without fighting).”

Continuing Joanna said:

“Yesterday I was trying to organize my stuff from my old apartment, and I found so many pictures from back in the day, from my first (UFC) fight, and from when I won the belt. I was like, gosh, it’s been 10 years since I got to the UFC.”

As far as what was her favorite moment of her career, Joanna Jedrzejczyk shared:

“I always tell people that (my favorite moment of my career) was my UFC debut, and they’re like ‘why?’ It’s because this is when everything started.”

“Someone gave me a big chance, and my dream was about to come true. (As I walked to the Octagon), I had it in my head that they’re letting you shine, J, so shine like the brightest star.”

Concluding, the former Strawweight Queen spoke about her decision to retire:

“I retired because I didn’t want to ruin my legacy. I have people like (Jose) Aldo and Conor (McGregor)—there’s so many of them—and when they lose, I feel so bad.”

“I don’t want to do this to my friends, my fans, because I want them to remember me as the greatest.”

“I deserve to wake up tomorrow and change my mind.”

It will be very emotional for Joanna Jedrzejczyk to accept the honor of being admitted into the UFC Hall of Fame this summer. However, as is often the case, when one door closes, another one opens.
