UFC 299: ‘O’Malley vs. Vera 2’ Weigh-in Results – 1 Fighter Misses Weight

By Susan Cox - March 8, 2024

UFC 299 ‘O’Malley vs. Vera 2’ takes place tomorrow, Saturday, March 9th at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida.

Sean O’Malley

The main event will feature Sean O’Malley (17-1 MMA) in his first title defense against Marlon Vera (23-8 MMA) for the bantamweight crown.

The two originally met in August 2020 at UFC 252. It was ‘Chito’ who came out victorious with a TKO win over ‘Suga’ at 4:40 of round 1.

O’Malley will be seeking revenge over that loss, the only loss in his professional career, come Saturday night.

Vera will be coming into the Octagon having won 5 of his last 6 fights, he latest victory coming against Pedro Munhoz (20-8 MMA) in August of last year at UFC 292.

The co-main event of UFC 299 will feature a lightweight battle between Dustin Poirier (29-8 MMA) and Benoit Saint-Denis (13-1 MMA).

Dustin Poirier

Poirier is looking to get back into the win column after his KO loss to Justin Gaethje (25-4 MMA) in July of last year at UFC 291.

Saint-Denis has won 5 in a row coming into Saturday’s fight, his most recent KO victory coming against Matt Frevola (11-4 MMA) this past November at UFC 295.

The official weigh-ins took place today, Friday, March 8th at the Kaseya Center. The rules have changed slightly, as weigh-ins took place between 9 and 11 am local time, but all fighters were required to hit the scale during the first hour, rather than having two full hours to make weight. Those who did not make weight during hour 1, had the opportunity to make weight during the next hour, between 10 – 11 am.
