UFC Vegas 87 Results: Vitor Petrino defeats Tyson Pedro (Highlights)

Pedro (10-4 MMA) will be returning to action for the first time since earning a first-round knockout victory over Anton Turkalj at September’s UFC 293 event. That sensational performance got the Aussie back in the win column, as he had previously suffered a decision loss to Modestas Bukauskas in February of last year.

Meanwhile, Vitor Petrino (10-0 MMA) has gone a perfect 3-0 since making his UFC debut in March of last year. ‘Icao’ most recently competed last November, where he earned a second-round stoppage victory over Modestas Bukauskas.


Round one of the UFC Vegas 87 co-main event begins and Tyson Pedro looks to close the distance. Vitor Petrino keeps him from doing so with a body kick. He lands a low kick followed by a stiff jab. Pedro with a hard low kick. Petrino lands one of his own. He steps into the pocket and lands a nice right hook. Pedro returns fire with a calf kick. Vitor with a low kick and then a left hook. The Aussie paws with his jab and then connects with another good low kick. Vitor Petrino with a snapping jab up the middle. Pedro lands a nice kick to the body. Petrino responds with one of his own. Both men seem happy to just stand and trade for now. A big jab connects for the undefeated ‘Icao’. Tyson Pedro goes to the body with a front kick. Another nice body kick lands for Petrino. He follows that up with a good jab. Pedro lands another nice low kick to close out the opening frame.

Round two of the UFC Vegas 87 co-main event begins and Tyson Pedro comes forward and lands a jab. Vitor Petrino answers with a low kick and then a pair of left hooks. A good uppercut now from the undefeated Brazilian. He pushes his opponent back up against the cage. The Aussie quickly reverses the position. Petrino regains front position and drops down for a takedown attempt. Pedro is doing a good job of defending. He is threatening with a kimura attempt. Petrino eventually let’s go and the fighters separate from the cage. Pedro avoids a jab and responds with a nice 1-2. He attacks the lead leg of Vitor with a low kick. Under two minutes remain. Tyson Pedro shoots for a takedown, but Vitor Petrino sprawls and stuffs the shot. ‘Icao’ looks for a high kick, but Pedro ducks under and avoids. Petrino with a heavy low kick. Pedro goes to the body with a front kick. Petrino lands a body kick and then a low lick. Tyson answers with a low kick of his own. The horn sounds to end round two.

The third and final round begins and Vitor Petrino lands a powerful kick to start. He follows that up with a nice combination. A good jab now. That appeared to stun the Aussie. Petrino shoots in and forces Pedro against the fence. The fighter’s battel in the clinch before Petrino drops down and is able to take the fight to the floor. He works some decent ground and pound. He looks for a head and arm choke, but eventually lets that go. Petrino moves to the back of Pedro and looks to lock in his hooks. He gets one in and then begins working for a rear-naked choke. He switches to an arm triangle choke. Pedro survives to hear the final horn.
