UFC Vegas 87 Results: Muhammad Mokaev defeats Alex Perez (Highlights)

We have you covered for all of today’s UFC Vegas 87 results, including the flyweight bout between Muhammad Mokaev and Alex Perez.

Mokaev (12-0 MMA) will be returning to action for the first time since scoring an impressive submission victory over Tim Elliott at October’s UFC 294 event. ‘The Punisher’ has gone a perfect 5-0 since joining the UFC ranks in March of 2022, with four of those five wins coming by way of submissions.

Meanwhile, Alex Perez (24-8 MMA) will enter today’s contest with hopes of snapping a two-fight losing skid, this after suffering setbacks to reigning flyweight champion Alexandre Pantoja and former title holder Deiveson Figueiredo respectively. Prior to those defeats, the 31-year-old Perez had put together a three-fight win streak which had resulted in his shot at the title.

Round one of this flyweight contest begins and Alex Perez takes an early accidental poke to the eye. Muhammad Mokaev comes forward with a combination. Perez with a low kick. Mokaev answers with one to the body. The flyweights trade low kicks. A solid knee lands for Mokaev. He shoots in for a takedown, but Alex defends the shot. A nice counter right by Perez. Mokaev looks for a single leg. He transitions to a double leg with a minute to go. He scrambles to try and take the back but settles for half guard. He unloads some left hands, then closes the round with elbows.

Round two begins and Muhammad Mokaev shoots for a takedown and spins to Perez’s back. Alex peels off a hook but remains stuck against the fence. Solid defense from Perez that forces the break. Mokaev slips and Perez knocks him over with a low kick. A solid combo by Perez and Mokaev shoots again, this time taking him down against the fence. Perez looking for the switch. He gets to his feet and Mokaev puts in a hook to secure the body lock. Mokaev continuing to hold the body lock. Perez eventually separates.  Mokaev fires off a combination. Perez tries to open up against the fence before tying up. The horn sounds to end round two.

The third and final round begins and Muhammad Mokaev lands a low kick to start. Perez lands a counter left and then stuffs a takedown attempt. Mokaev shoots in again and this time gets the fight to the floor. Perez quickly scrambles back up to his feet. Mokaev fires off a shot and shoots back in, Perez sprawls and defends. Mokaev tries to drive through, but still can’t get Perez down. They separate. Perez advancing but not throwing anything. Mokaev shoots again but is stuffed. One minute to go. Mokaev firing straight punches as he retreats. Perez catches him changing levels with an uppercut. He stuffs another takedown to close out the fight.
