The world of combat sports is changing for the betterment of fighter safety as the California State Athletic Commission announced on Tuesday the newly placed rules to combat dangerous weight cutting and dehydration. The move comes shortly after the ONC FC promotion announced their implementation of a new weigh-in system. ONE FC has urged fellow MMA promotions Bellator and UFC to adopt the new system.

Ronda Rousey's coach suspended for falsifying paperwork

At a California State Athletic Commission hearing on Tuesday afternoon Ronda Rousey’s head coach Edmond Tarverdyan was suspended for 3 months for falsifying documents. Tarverdyan was also handed a $5,000 fine and given 3 years of probation according to MMAFighting.com, who confirmed the news with CSAC Executive Director Andy Foster.

Jon Jones says he has 'maybe' three fights left in the UFC light heavyweight division

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has been training hard for his return to the Octagon. Jones was suspended last year from the UFC and stripped of his championship title for legal issues involving a hit-and-run accident in Albuquerque, New Mexico back in 2015. Jones has since been reinstated by the UFC and is expected to take on the current light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier. This will be the second time Jones and Cormier will meet in the Octagon. Jones defeated Cormier back at UFC 182, which took place on January 2, 2015. The rematch will be Jones’ first fight back in the UFC and Cormier will get his chance to avenge his loss and keep the light heavyweight title.

Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone involved in horrific car crash?

It looks like UFC veteran Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone has been involved in a horrendous car accident. The always game fan favorite is scheduled to move up to welterweight and face Tim Means on February 21st at UFC Fight Night 83 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Cerrone posted photos recently to social media of a severely wrecked truck. Obviously, if Cerrone was able to post to his social media, he was not seriously hurt.

Wrestling superstar Dave Bautista seems to be extremely perturbed with the corporate athletic wear company’s fighter pay structure and deal with the UFC. Bautista tweeted “Anyone who buys that goofy UFC @Reebok shit is endorsing the fighters getting fucked out of their sponsorships. Just a thought #fuckreebok” on Saturday when the UFC on FOX 18 event was on.
