Former UFC welterweight champion Johny Hendricks (17-4 MMA) took on surging 170-pound contender Stephen Thompson (12-1 MMA) in the main event of UFC Fight Night 82 in Las Vegas. Round one begins and Thompson opens up with a huge switch kick that misses. Nice right hand for Hendricks who closes the distance and lands an early takedown. Thompson gets right back up however and they break. Nice side kick and then a head kick lands for Thompson. Another big head kick by “Wonder Boy”. He lands a good left hand and then a body kick. Nice combo lands for Thompson who looks to be on his game tonight. Big shots from Thompson. Hendricks is hurt. It’s all over!

UFN 82 Results: Roy Nelson defeats Jared Rosholt via decision

A heavyweight tilt between Roy Nelson (21-12 MMA) and Jared Rosholt (14-3 MMA) served as the co-main event for UFC Fight Night 82 in Las Vegas. Round one begins and Nelson is pressing forward with his right hand loaded and ready to fly. Rosholt is moving well but not landing anything. Big uppercut misses for “Big Country”. He tries another massive right hand but it also misses. Nice uppercut lands for Nelson. He follows that up with a jab. Rosholt responds with a good punch and then an uppercut. Jared lands another good short left and then a couple of jabs. Round one comes to an end.

UFN 82 Results: Ovince Saint Preux defeats Rafael Cavalcante via decision

Light heavyweights Ovince Saint Preux (19-7 MMA) and Rafael Cavalcante (12-7 MMA) squared off on the UFC Fight Night 82 main card in Las Vegas. Round one begins and “OSP” starts off by throwing a front kick. Another good kick to the body from Saint Preux. He is walking Cavalcante down. Rafael is moving well but has not come up with any offense as of yet. “OSP” with a leg kick and he looks to have injured his foot. Saint Preux is in trouble. He can barely put any pressure on his foot. Big leg kick lands for Cavalcante. He scores with another thunderous inside leg kick. “OSP” is limping badly. Saint Preux presses forward with some jabs. Huge left hand lands for “OSP”. He presses forward with more punches and drops Rafael. Saint Preux jumps on him and begins landing shots from the top position. Round one ends.

UFN 82 Results: Misha Cirkunov submits Alex Nicholson in round two

A light heavyweight fight between Alex Nicholson (6-2 MMA) and Misha Cirkunov (11-2 MMA) served as the second bout of the UFC Fight Night 82 main card in Las Vegas. Round one begins and Nicholson starts off by throwing some leg kicks. Cirkunov fires back with a kick of his own followed by an uppercut. Cirkunov with a kick to the body that lands. Nicholson misses with a spinning elbow and Misha takes him to the ground. Cirkunov searches for a submission but can’t lock in the attempt. Nicholson is back to his feet and lands a kick low to Cirkunov’s groin. The ref stops the action so Misha can recover. Cirkunov is trying to get the fight to the ground but Nicholson isn’t having it. Alex tries a spinning back elbow but misses. Cirkunov scores a takdedown and takes the back of Nicholson. Good shots from Misha as round one ends.

A welterweight fight between Mike Pyle (27-11-1 MMA) and Sean Spencer (12-5 MMA) kicked off the UFC Fight Night 82 main card in Las Vegas. Round one begins and Sean Spencer lands a quick jab. Good kick from Burkman but Spencer lands another solid jab and then a hook. Good combo by Pyle who finishes with a knee. Excellent short left lands for Spencer. Pyle is looking to land a knee when Spencer ducks under. Good leg kick scores for Mike and then a left hand. Good right hook for Pyle. Spencer responds with a big right hand that drops Pyle. Spencer is working from full guard and then decides to return to his feet. Spencer comes forward with punches but misses. Body kick partially lands for Pyle. Both fighters trade jabs. Another left hand scores for Spencer. He follows that up with a good left hook. Round one ends with both men swinging big punches.

UFN 82 Results: Josh Burkman defeats K.J. Noons via decision

Lightweights Josh Burkman (28-12 MMA) and K.J. Noons (13-9 MMA) went to battle in the featured bout of the UFC Fight Night 82 prelims in Las Vegas. Noons opens with a jab that misses and Burkman replies with a leg kick. Another leg kick lands for Josh. Both men are trying to find their range. Burkman opens up with kicks to the body of Noons. Four in a row to be exact. Good leg kick scores for Burkman. Josh presses forward with punches but K.J. is able to avoid. Noons really needs to open up. The fans are growing restless. Good kick scores for Burkman and another. Big shots from Burkman but Noons is able to duck under and escape. Four minutes in and I don’t think Noons has landed more than one strike. Finally Noons lands a good shot while pressing forward. Big shots from both men to end round one.

A heavyweight bout between Derrick Lewis (14-4 MMA) and Damian Grabowski (20-3 MMA) took place on the UFC Fight Night 82 prelims in Las Vegas. Round one begins and Lewis rushes forward with big shots. Grabowski dips under for a takedown and gets it. Lewis quickly reverses the position and ends up on top. Big shot from the top by Lewis. He dives in with another big right. And another. Grabowski is busted open. More big shots from Lewis. He moves to mount presses up and rains down another heavy right hand. And another! It is all over! “The Black Beast” wins via TKO.

A flyweight bout between Ray Borg (9-2 MMA) and Justin Scoggins (11-2 MMA) took place on the UFC Fight Night 82 prelims in Las Vegas. Ray Borg opened round one with an early takedown but Justin Scoggins bounded right back to his feet and pressured Borg against the fence. Good work from the clinch by Scoggins. Borg dips down for a takedown attempt but Scoggins stuffs it and they break. Good shot from Justin and he presses Borg against the fence. Good body kick from Scoggins. He follows up with a front kick and then punches. Head kick partially lands for Scoggins. Borg attempts a wild spinning back fist that misses. Goo jab from Justin and then he throws a switch kick. Borg dives in for a takedown but misses. Good jab and then a leg kick from Scoggins.

UFN 82 Results: Diego Rivas KO's Noad Lahat with a flying knee in round 2

A featherweight bout between Noad Lahat (9-2 MMA) and Diego Rivas (7-0 MMA) kicked off the UFC Fight Night 82 prelims on FS1. Round one begins and Rivas promptly pokes Lahat in the eye and action is stopped. The doctor comes in to examine the injury. Lahat says he is good to go and the fight continues. Good leg kick from Lahat, who pushes forward and scores a takedown on Rivas. He moves to mount and has a tight guillotine choke locked in. Rivas is holding on but this doesn’t look good. Rivas bucks and shakes Lahat back in to half guard. Lahat landing short elbows from the top now. Rivas attempts a triangle but gives up his back. Lahat is searching for a rear-naked choke but Rivas is defending well. Lahat now locks in a head-arm choke and it’s deep. Once again Rivas is able to defend the submission attempt. Rivas is fighting back hard and has worked his was to his feet. He lifts up Lahat and slams him down. Lahat scrambles and winds up on top of Rivas. Good shots from the top to end round 1 for Lahat.
