Michael Bisping scored a unanimous decision victory over Dan Henderson in the main event of UFC 204 yesterday in Manchester, thus retaining his UFC middleweight championship. “The Count” was nearly finished in the fight’s opening round, this after Henderson landed one of his famous “H-Bombs” which sent Michael crashing to the canvas.

On Saturday night, in the co-main event of UFC 204, Gegard Mousasi got a fight with an opponent he’s been chasing since his days under the Affliction banner in 2009: Vitor “The Phenom” Belfort. Though the bout was undoubtedly a better late than never situation, Mousasi made good on this long-awaited opportunity.

On Saturday night, in the main event of UFC 204, MMA legend Dan Henderson stepped onto the canvas for a final time. The former Pride and Strikeforce titleholder did so against an old rival in Michael Bisping, in a bout that could have won him the UFC middleweight title. Regrettably, Henderson was not able to achieve his title-winning happy ending. Though he nearly finished his British foe in the first and second rounds, the larger fight saw him soundly out-hustled by a workmanlike Bisping.

In the main event of UFC 204, UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping made his first successful title defense in Manchester, England as he picked up a unanimous decision win over Dan Henderson in a five round war. The fight saw Bisping dropped in both the first and second round, both times resulting in Henderson nearly finishing the fight, however ‘The Count’ showed his championship spirit as he continued to not only push the pace, but outwork Henderson on the feet.

A middleweight title fight between champion Michael Bisping and rival Dan Henderson headlined tonight’s UFC 204 event in Manchester, England. Round one begins and Bisping presses forward and throws a body kick. Henderson returns fire with a leg kick. Bisping with a nice left jab. “Hendo” has his right hand cocked and ready to unload. The fighters trade low kicks. Dan throws a low kick and follows up with a right hand that misses. Bisping attempts a high kick. He goes low and scores. “Hendo” just misses with a right hand. Bisping has a cut and is bleeding. Not sure where that came from. Bisping with a leg kick and Dan just misses with a right. A huge right hand drops Michael. Dan comes in and lands some huge shots and elbows. Bisping is in all sorts of trouble here. He somehow gets back to his feet. Round one comes to an end.

A key middleweight bout between former UFC champion Vitor Belfort and former Strikeforce champion Gegard Mousasi served as the co-main event for tonight’s UFC 204 fight card in Manchester, England. Round one begins and Mousasi presses forward and lands a leg kick. He follows that up with a kick to the body. Another low kick from Gegard. Belfort lands a jab and follows up with some big punches that miss. Mousasi presses forward and lands a jab. He lands a nice combination on “The Phenom”. Another nice leg kick scores for Mousasi. The fighters briefly clinch and then break. Mousasi with pressure but Vitor lands a hook. Another low kick from Gegard. He fires two more and both land. Vitor attempts a high kick but it is blocked. Another hard leg kick scores for Gegard. The fighter trade low kicks. Gegard lands a hook. He scores with a nice two-punch combo. Mousasi presses Belfort against the fence and lands some knees inside. Round one comes to an end.

A light heavyweight bout between Ovince Saint Preux and Jimi Manuwa took place on tonight’s UFC 204 main card in Manchester, England. Round one begins and Saint Preux lands a jab to start. Manuwa presses forward and lands back-to-back leg kicks. “OSP” grabs a hold of Jimi and presses him against the cage. The fighters exchange knees from the position. Saint Preux backs off and Manuwa lands a body kick. Jimi slips a punch and presses “OSP” against the cage. The fighters once again trade knees. Manuwa goes upstairs with a knee. They break and Saint Preux chases after Jimi and scores a takedown. “OSP” sinks in one hook and looks to take the back of Manuwa. Jimi remains calm and scrambles back to his feet. He grabs a hold of Saint Preux’s neck and locks in a guillotine choke. “OSP” escapes the submission and quickly transitions taking the back of Manuwa. One minute remains in the opening round. Saint Preux locks in a hook and works some short punches from the top. Elbows to the back from “OSP”. Twenty seconds remain. Manuawa scrambles and gets back to his feet. Round one comes to an end.
UFC 204 Results: Mirsad Bektić submits Russell Doane in round 1

A featherweight scrap between Mirsad Bektić and Russell Doane kicked off the UFC 204 main card tonight in Manchester, England. Round one begins and Doane comes forward with a kick to the body. He lands a nice combination. Bektić fires back with a jab. The fighters exchange shots in the center of the octagon. Doane with a nice hook. Bektić shoots in and scores a takedown. Doane gets up but Mirsad has his back. He drags Doane to the floor but Russell works his way back to his feet. Again Mirsad drags him back to the floor and this time he locks in both hooks. He cranks a rear-naked choke attempt but Russell is able to defend the submission. Bektić locks in a body triangle and sinks in a rear-naked choke and Doane is forced to tapout.

A bantamweight fight between Brad Pickett and Iuri Alcântara headlined tonight’s UFC 204 prelims in Manchester, England. Round one begins and Alcantara misses with a high kick. He throws off a combination and pushes Pickett against the fence. A knee inside just misses. They break. Pickett presses forward but walks in to a flurry of shots. A high kick scores for Alcantara. He lands a punch and a spinning back elbow. Pickett is hits the canvas. Alcantara jumps on him with punches. Alcantara moves to mount. He sets up a triangle and transitions to an armbar. He rolls in to a triangle choke and this one is all over. Picket is forced to tapout.

A bantamweight bout between Davey Grant and Damian Stasiak took place on the UFC 204 prelims in Manchester, England. Round one begins and Grant lands a leg kick but Damian catches it and scores a quick takedown. He begins working from full guard. Davey scrambles and gets back to his feet. He presses forward and throws a spinning back fist that partially connects. He ducks a punch and presses Damian against the cage. Grant grabs a leg and drags him to the floor. Stasiak uses a butterfly hook to get back up to his feet but it is short lived as Grant takes him right back down. Damian works his way back to his feet and the fighters break. Grant comes forward with a knee but it misses the mark. He attempts a high kick but that also misses. Davey shoots in for a takedown but Damian is able to defend the attempt for now. Grant continues the pressure and scores the takedown but Damian sweeps him and winds up on top and in half guard. Round one comes to an end.

A lightweight bout between Lukasz Sajewski and Marc Diakiese kicked off the UFC 204 prelims on FS1. Round one begins and Marc charges forward but gets taken down with ease by Lukasz. Sajewski immediately moves to side control and looks to advance his position. Diakiese scrambles and gets back to half guard. Sajewski works some short shots from the position. Marc gets back to his feet but is in a guillotine choke. He picks up Sajewski and slams him to the ground. Lukasz bounces right back to his feet and presses Marc against the cage. He ducks under and scores a takedown on Diakiese. Sajewski moves to half guard and lands some short strikes to the body. Lukasz with a knee. Diakiese rolls for a heel hook. He uses the submission attempt to get back to his feet. Back-to-back low kicks score for Marc. He lands another and Lukasz shoots in for a takedown. It is not there and round one comes to an end.

A welterweight scrap between Danny Roberts and Mike Perry served as the featured bout of tonight’s UFC 204 fight pass prelims in Manchester, England. Round one begins and Perry immediately presses forward with strikes. He lands a solid leg kick on Danny. Roberts scores with a left hand to the body. Perry is the aggressor early. Roberts fires off with a body kick. Perry replies with one of his own. A nice left hand scores for Danny. Mike presses forward and lands a right hand. Roberts misses with a combination. He steps inside and lands a knee. Perry presses forward but eats a leg kick. Perry with a stiff jab and then a high kick attempt that is blocked. He comes forward with some big punches. He scores a knee inside. Robert dives down for a takedown but it is not there. Perry takes his back and lands some strikes. Roberts scrambles but Perry winds up in side control. He switches to the back and begins searching for a rear-naked choke. Danny scrambles and gets back to his feet. Roberts lands a kick to the body and then one to the leg. Both men land with left hooks. Perry scores with a front kick. Danny replies with a hard kick to the body. The fighters exchange punches. Perry lands a big combination and then a massive uppercut. Roberts goes down. Perry jumps on him with punches but the horn sounds to end round one.
