Michael Bisping fires back at Luke Rockhold

UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping and former middleweight champion Luke Rockhold have a very long, and very public, rivalry dating back many years. Prior to the pair’s first meeting in the Octagon, Bisping infamously recalled a sparring session between the pair, taking a shot at the former Strikeforce middleweight champ by stating that after their sparring session, he should be the Strikeforce middleweight champion. Bisping’s comments didn’t sit too well with Rockhold, who was quick to welcome a fight with Bisping. In 2014 the pair had their first meeting inside the Octagon, where Rockhold defeating Bisping via 2nd round submission in a particularly impressive showing.

Gadelha came out strong in the opening rounds, landing several big punches to Jedrzejczyk as the champ continued to counter with a significant volume of strikes. Ultimately, as the fight progressed, Jedrzejczyk’s cardio proved to be the difference maker as she continued to land an impressive volume of strikes en route to an impressive unanimous decision win.

Earlier this month at UFC 204, UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping, and MMA legend Dan Henderson stepped into the Octagon in a highly anticipated rematch, this time for Bisping’s UFC middleweight championship. The fight was an extremely spectacular one, with Henderson showing off the power he possesses in his right hand even at 46 years old as he dropped Bisping in both the first and second rounds. Ultimately however, Bisping was able to weather an early storm from Henderson as he continued to outwork the MMA legend throughout the course of the remaining 3 rounds, out-striking Henderson as he poured out an impressive volume of strikes.

‘The Korean Superboy’ Choi Doo-Ho has been on a bit of a tear since making his debut with the UFC in late 2014. In his first Octagon appearance, Choi knocked out Juan Puig in just 18 seconds at ‘UFC Fight Night: Austin’, leaving fight fans in awe of his lightning quick striking. Unfortunately, it was an entire year before Choi returned to the Octagon. When he did however, it was in front of a hometown crowd at ‘UFC Fight Night: Seoul’, where he picked up yet another impressive KO win, this time in 1 minute and 33 seconds over Sam Sicilia, earning himself a performance of the night bonus in the process.

Jon Jones was unceremoniously pulled from a milestone event in UFC 200 after USADA flagged him for a positive drug test. Just days before he was set to rematch Daniel Cormier to unify the light heavyweight belts, Jones was forced off the card and replaced with Anderson Silva, who stepped in following Jones’ failed drug test. Recent revelations however suggest that Jones may not have been misleading when they blamed the failed tests on tainted supplements.

In the beginning of October, former Bellator MMA champion Will Brooks stepped into the Octagon for his second UFC appearance on the main card of ‘UFC Fight Night: Portland’. Brooks was stepping into the Octagon against Alex ‘Cowboy’ Oliveira, who was supposed to be making his lightweight debut at the event. The day prior however, when the Portland Athletic Commission opened up the scales for early weigh-ins, Olivera was one of the first fighters on the scale, coming in 5.5 pounds over the lightweight non-title fight limit of 156 pounds. While Brooks was given the option to decline the fight given that Oliveira came in quite a bit over the weight limit, he opted to fight ‘Cowboy’. Unfortunately, when the two stepped in the Octagon, an early knee from Oliveira injured one of Brooks’ ribs. As the fight progressed, the injury became more & more severe, with Oliveira ultimately securing the 3rd round TKO win.
