Tom Taylor - June 5, 2017
Since their respective knockout wins on the main card of the UFC’s latest trip to Nashville, “Platinum” Mike Perry and “Ragin'” Al Iaquinta have exchanged some serious heat on Twitter. Despite the fact that they fight at welterweight and lightweight respectively, the two talented fighters seem very down to fight each other. Classy Claudia Gadelha issues statement after blowout UFC 212 defeat of Karolina Kowalkiewicz
Tom Taylor - June 5, 2017
On Saturday night, in the co-main event of UFC 212, we watched Claudia Gadelha and Karolina Kowalkiewicz – the strawweight division’s number one and two ranked fighters – collide in what looked like it could be a number-one contender fight. From the early vantage point, this one seemed to have all the makings of a competitive, back and forth scrap. In the end, however, it was not. Instead, Gadelha quickly grounded the fight, at which point she took her Polish foe’s back, locked up the rear-naked choke, and coaxed out the tap for the win. It all went down in just over three minutes. In the wake of this lopsided win over the former title challenger Kowalkiewicz, the streaking Gadelha took to social media to issue a classy statement, sharing her respect for Kowalkiewicz and thanking her for taking the fight.

Frankie Edgar makes his case for the first crack at new featherweight champ Max Holloway
Tom Taylor - June 5, 2017
Last Saturday, in the main event of UFC 212, Max Holloway ushered in a new era in the UFC featherweight division by taking out once dominant champion Jose Aldo with third-round punches. While many new champions are quick to call for money fights, Holloway quickly made it clear that this will not be his focus. Instead, he plans to channel Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson and defend his new title as many times as possible. When it comes to opponents for his first title defense, there seems to be two men at the top of the list. One is Cub Swanson, who Holloway has defeated before. Swanson has been voraciously campaigning for the fight on social media over the last 48 hours. The other is Frankie Edgar, one of the few top featherweights Holloway is yet to fight.

Cub Swanson demands rematch with Max Holloway, promises he'll be victorious
Tom Taylor - June 4, 2017
Last night, in the main event of UFC 212, streaking Hawaiian star Max Holloway sent a shockwave through the UFC featherweight division by defeating once-dominant featherweight king Jose Aldo with third-round strikes. With this impressive win, Holloway begins what could well be a very dominant reign as UFC featherweight champion. Though nothing is certain just yet, the next featherweight title shot seems like it belongs to former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar. While Edgar failed twice to capture gold against Aldo, he is currently on an impressive two-fight streak, having recently defeated game foes in Jeremy Stephens and Yair Rodriguez. His receiving a shot at Holloway would not be a hard sell.
New champ Max Holloway on Conor McGregor: He can beg to fight me now

With this win, Holloway became the UFC’s undisputed featherweight champion, and extended his win-streak to a ridiculous eleven-straight. Given his current streak, many fans have broached the possibility of a rematch between Holloway and the last man he lost to, Conor McGregor. Yet McGregor, who knocked Aldo out to win featherweight gold in 2015, is currently chasing a boxing mega fight with Floyd Mayweather, and Holloway doesn’t plan on chasing him down for a lucrative rematch.
Miesha Tate: I wish Cyborg would have punched Angela Magana harder
Tom Taylor - June 4, 2017
Arguably the biggest story to emerge from the UFC athletes retreat earlier this month surrounds a dramatic clash between UFC featherweight star Cris “Cyborg” Justino and UFC strawweight Angela Magana. This drama was sparked when Magana made some nasty comments about Cyborg online, and reached a violent crescendo when a vengeful Cyborg punched Magana in the face at the athletes retreat. In the wake of this incident, Magana has elected to press charges against Cyborg, and the UFC claims to be taking Cyborg’s punch very seriously.
