The card will now officially feature a light heavyweight rematch between former champion Jon Jones and long-time contender Alexander Gustafsson. The bout will be for the vacant light heavyweight title, which implies that divisional champ Daniel Cormier, who also owns the heavyweight title, will soon be stripped. All of this per ESPN.

Shortly after Khabib Nurmagomedov defended the UFC lightweight title with a fourth-round submission of Conor McGregor, he leapt over the side of the Octagon and attacked McGregor’s training partner Dillon Danis, inciting a riot between his and McGregor’s teams. As you can probably imagine, UFC President Dana White was not too impressed by this chaotic scene. In fact, the UFC boss was so upset with Khabib Nurmagomedov that he did not initially put the UFC lightweight title around the champ’s waist.

However it appears oddsmakers aren’t giving “The Black Beast” much of a chance. According to Bovada, Lewis opened as a +500 underdog (bet $100 to win $500) against Cormier who came in as a massive -800 betting favorite (bet $800 to win $100).

Daniel Cormier will attempt his first defense of the UFC heavyweight title against hulking knockout artist Derrick Lewis at UFC 230 on November 3. That’s thanks to some last-minute scrambling from the UFC brass, who had been struggling to create a fan-friendly main event for the card for weeks. While fans seem to be pretty excited about this undeniably surprising Daniel Cormier vs. Derrick Lewis fight, former UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic is not. Ever since he surrendered the heavyweight title to Cormier in July, he’s been adamant that he deserves a rematch on the basis of his record-breaking three-straight title defenses.

Khabib Nurmagomedov’s Saturday night victory over Conor McGregor wasn’t exactly close. The Russian champion dominated his Irish adversary for the vast majority of the fight, and submitted him in the fourth round. That being said, there have already been calls for a rematch between the two stars. After their post-fight brawl, there’s still plenty of lingering animus between them. Furthermore, many fans feel the long-absent McGregor would perform better in a do-over. And finally, there’s the fact that, even in defeat, McGregor remains the sport’s biggest attraction.

Srisaket Sor Rungvisai did his best to finish Iran Diaz in the main event of ONE: KINGDOM OF HEROES on Saturday night in Bangkok, Thailand. However, the rugged challenger simply refused to wither and the champion had to settle for a unanimous-decision win as he retained his WBC Super Flyweight title. While Srisaket didn’t earn the stoppage victory, a good number of the martial artists in action on Saturday did manage to take matters out of the judge’s hands. The Japanese icon needed just 57 seconds to score an impressive submission win over Ev Ting. Aoki has long been known for his grappling prowess and he wasted no time showing Ting that he would lean on his area of expertise in pursuit of the win.

Last night, we were hit by the unfortunate news that Dustin Poirier has been forced out of his anticipated lightweight contender bout with Nate Diaz, which was scheduled for UFC 230 this November 3 in New York City. From there, the MMA community quickly began brainstorming potential replacement opponents for Diaz. Apparently, however, we can call off the search.

Srisaket Sor Rungvisai would have loved to punctuate his promotional debut with a KO victory over Iran Diaz in front of his countrymen on Saturday, but the challenger’s toughness made that outcome impossible. During the main event at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand, Srisaket still retained his WBC Super Flyweight title, but he had to settle for a unanimous-decision victory in a lopsided battle that saw only one judge award Diaz a round. The bout main evented ONE: KINGDOM OF HEROES and kicked off what the boxer and promotion hope will be a long and fruitful relationship. Diaz had only a few moments of shine throughout the 12 rounds. He appeared to catch Srisaket off balance with a few counter shots. Srisaket even went to the mat, and perhaps should have been ruled down on at least one of the two occasions. He wasn’t, but even if he had been, the margin of victory was so large that it wouldn’t have changed the outcome.

Unfortunately for the brash Irish superstar, McGregor, his fight with “The Eagle” at UFC 229 played out as many analysts expected it would.

Sergio Pettis was one of the top flyweight prospects and considered a future title challenger. Was is the keyword. Pettis took on Jussier Formiga at UFC 229, where Formiga simply dominated the fight. Pettis lost by unanimous decision. The younger Pettis brother was looking like a real title contender at flyweight where he has wins over Joseph Benavidez and Brandon Moreno. However, Pettis but does have a loss to the current champion Henry Cejudo which could impact his title chances.
