UFC 236 was a pretty fantastic event that had two unforgettable bouts to close the show. Unfortunately, not as many tuned in as the UFC had hoped for. In the co-main event, we saw the first of two interim champions be crowned. This one in the middleweight division featured Kelvin Gastelum taking on Israel Adesanya in a war for the ages. In the end, Adesanya would take home the title via unanimous decision after coming on strong late.

This news comes from Marcel Dorff of MMA DNA, who added the Bibulatov has already found a new home in Absolute Championship Akhmat (ACA). According to a report from TMZ Sports, two-time UFC light heavyweight title challenger Anthony Johnson was arrested for domestic violence on Monday night. Johnson reportedly admitted to getting physical with his girlfriend during an argument, but claimed that he only picked her up and did not intend to hurt her. TMZ obtained the police report linked to this incident, which states that the woman called the police to report an altercation. The woman claimed she was kicking Johnson out of their house, packing up his belongings, when he “put her in a football hold.”

As one of the greatest wrestlers in the history of MMA, the undefeated “Funky” Askren vs someone of Burroughs’ caliber was the definition of a dream wrestling match as the 30-year old has won a gold medal in essentially every competition that he’s been a part of. But the University of Missouri alumni in Askren doesn’t have the worst wrestling credentials either (obviously).
