Last year, Lance Palmer took his impressive MMA career to new heights, winning the featherweight playoffs in the Professional Fighters League (PFL) and earning a gold belt and $1M prize for his efforts. This season, he’ll look to accomplish the same feat with a new team behind him. Ahead of his first PFL bout of the season, which will pit him against Alex Gilpin this very evening, Palmer has relocated to New Jersey where he is training under renowned coach Mark Henry.

Keith Thurman is currently scheduled to meet Manny Pacquiao in the boxing ring on on July 20, but that’s not stopping him from calling for a fight with one of the biggest stars in all of combat sports: former two-division UFC champ Conor McGregor. Speaking to TMZ, the boxer attempted to coax McGregor away from the Octagon and back in the direction of the boxing ring.

Dan Hardy has jumped to the defence of the MMA community after some incendiary comments from Paulie Malignaggi. The professional boxer and commentator Malignaggi made headlines recently after claiming that the MMA community misrepresents the sport of boxing. Following Monday’s BKFC 6 press conference, Malignaggi said to FightHype.com that there is a common misconception that MMA is the more dangerous sport of the two, and that he finds this frustrating.

Two of the top bantamweights in the UFC are set to meet at one of the biggest cards of the summer. According to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, No. 2 ranked bantamweight Raphael Assuncao will meet No. 8 ranked Cory Sandhagen at UFC 241, which takes place August 17 at Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The winner of this bout could be in good position to challenge for the title later this year against the winner of the vacant bantamweight title bout at UFC 238 between Henry Cejudo and Marlon Moraes.
Deiveson Figueiredo to fight Alexandre Pantoja at UFC 240

According to Combate, Brazilian flyweight fighters Deiveson Figueiredo and Alexandre Pantoja will reportedly be fighting at UFC 240 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on July 27. Figueiredo made his UFC debut with an undefeated professional record in 2017. He managed to maintain that winning streak until his most recent fight; a decision loss to Jussier Formiga. Prior to that loss, he defeated Marco Antonio Beltran, Jarred Brooks, Joseph Morales, and John Moraga in the Octagon. He’s now 15-1 as a professional.

Khabib Nurmagomedov teammates get suspensions reduced

Reigning UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov vowed that he would not return to the Octagon until his teammates Zubaira Tukhugov and Abubakar Nurmagomedov were cleared to fight again. Given that they were initially suspended one year for their roles in the infamous UFC 229 brawl, and therefore ineligible to fight until October, that presented a bit of a problem as a the UFC has worked to book a title fight between Nurmagomedov and Dustin Poirier at UFC 242 on September 7. Luckily, a solution has been reached.

Urijah Faber says he is 'very serious' about returning and has been offered fights

“The California Kid” Urijah Faber could very well return from retirement at UFC Sacramento this July. The 40-year-old last fought back in December 2016, when he beat Brad Pickett and then announced his retirement from the sport. Given Sacramento is where Faber’s gym, Team Alpha Male is based, it only makes sense that he wants to return on that card. According to Faber, he is quite serious about returning and has been offered fights already.

Speaking at the BKFC 6 press conference on Monday, former boxer Paulie Malignaggi made quite a few comments that rubbed the MMA community the wrong way. Some of his comments actually targeted the MMA community point blank. Yet the thing that bothered former UFC middleweight champ Michael Bisping the most was Malignaggi’s fashion choices — namely his fedora. “Don’t get me started on [Paulie Malignaggi] spitting on [Artem Lobov],” Michael Bisping said on his Believe You Me podcast (transcript via MMA News). “Any motherf*cker that shows up wearing a hat like that deserves to die. It’s as simple as that. I’m sorry. You look like an absolute tit. He looks like a villain out of the Dick Tracy movie. You know what I mean? He might as well have had a pinstripe suit on, that big stupid gangsta hat. Oh my god, it did not look good.

According to Leon Edwards and his brother, Bellator fight Fabian Edwards, Jorge Masvidal turned down the opportunity to fight him. The Edwards brothers have also recently made digs at the UFC for the current ranking and lack of hype surrounding Leon. Leon Edwards (17-3) has made his desire to fight Jorge Masvidal no secret. In a recent interview with BJPenn.com, he says his winning streak is not reflected in his position in the UFC ranking system, presumably because he doesn’t engage in trash talking.

Las week, on the main card of the stacked ONE: Enter the Dragon card in Singapore, former UFC talent Sage Northcutt made his ONE Championship debut opposite dangerous kickboxing export Cosmo Alexandre. Unfortunately for Northcutt and his legions of fans, this ONE debut went disastrously, as we was knocked out in less than 30 seconds. After this tough knockout loss, Northcutt was carted to a Singapore hospital, where he underwent a nine-hour surgery to repair several facial injuries.
