Diaz’s Coach: Nate shouldn’t be suspended for medicinal vaping

Nate Diaz loves weed, and doesn’t seem particularly concerned with who knows it. In fact, the Stockton Slugger was bold enough in his use of medicinal marijuana, specifically CPD oil, that he vaped during the post-fight press conference following his thrilling five round fight with Conor McGregor at UFC 202.

CBD oil

Diaz’s boxing coach Richard Perez told Submission Radio that although Diaz blatantly imbibed Cannabidiol while at the presser, he shouldn’t be suspended or punished by USADA.

According to Perez, CBD oil, which is a compound found in cannabis used for medicinal purposes, is just as necessary as any other medical prescription.

“I don’t feel like they should suspend him. I mean, doctors prescribe you with drugs left and right that are not even good for you. And I mean, I don’t do what he does, but I understand what he’s doing. You know, cause it’s for pain. There’s a place here in Modesto that have a big company that deal with people that have sicknesses that are using the oil that Nate was using to help them – you know, like epilepsy. There’s people that have injuries in their body, you know, they use it and it works. And they have six counsellors there that are pastors, that are all educated, that will talk to you about this and explain to you that this is not just to get high. So I feel like he was being his own doctor, let’s put it that way.”

Diaz lives in California, where medicinal marijuana is legalized and regulated to card-holding patients.

USADA has not yet dropped the hammer on Diaz over vaping at the post-fight presser, saying it’s still “gathering facts” in regard to the matter.
