Michael Chiesa takes aim at ‘coward’ Colby Covington for ducking him: ‘Who didn’t sign the contract?’

Michael Chiesa has taken a shot at the former interim UFC welterweight champion, Colby Covington.

Chiesa has called out Covington for years, and after the two were assistant coaches on TUF, Chiesa felt like a fight would happen. The UFC was on board with it as well, but Covington turned it down, according to Chiesa.

“If I said it once, I’ve said it a million times. Everyone knows who I want to fight,” Chiesa said to Ariel Helwani. “The f*****g guy is avoiding me like the plague. I’d love that fight after this one. It was all laid out on Ultimate Fighter. This f*****g guy, Chael and ‘DC’ (Daniel Cormier) pitched it perfectly. Let’s have our coaches fight each other. Hunter Campbell was on board, everybody’s board, everybody loved it. Who didn’t sign the contract? It wasn’t me.”

Chiesa believes that had Covington shown interest in the fight, it already would have happened. However, he called Covington a coward for turning it down, as Chiesa believes it’s proof that ‘Chaos’ no longer wants to fight.

“Dudes a f*****g coward, I don’t care what anybody says,” Chiesa said. “The dude is a chicken shit, I don’t care he says he hangs out at Mar-A-lago and he sold out MSG and all this bullshit. You just don’t want to f*****g fight, you just don’t want to fight. Just don’t fight. I don’t even know why he has a number next to his name, the guy doesn’t want to fight.”

Covington last fought in December of 2024 when he suffered a TKO loss to Joaquin Buckley. Since then, there hasn’t been much talk of his return, and Chiesa believes that’s because he doesn’t want to fight.

Michael Chiesa, meanwhile, is set to take on Carlston Harris at UFC Seattle on March 28. He’s looking to extend his win streak to four with the win.
