Jon Jones sends ominous message to Alex Pereira, Dana White after failed UFC GOAT bid

Former two-division UFC champion Jon Jones sent an ominous message to Alex Pereira and Dana White in a since-deleted tweet.
Alex Pereira’s bid at making UFC history fell short at the White House on Sunday as he lost to Ciryl Gane in their interim heavyweight title bout. Pereira opted to make the full-time move to heavyweight and vacate the light heavyweight belt earlier this year, before losing to Gane by second-round TKO.
Ahead of UFC Freedom 250, UFC CEO Dana White claimed that if Pereira was victorious over Gane and won the interim heavyweight belt, he would surpass Jon Jones as the greatest fighter in UFC history. This claim set off a social media firestorm, with current and former UFC fighters debating White’s hot take.
Outside of a silent video recorded after Gane’s victory, Jones has kept relatively quiet about White’s claims and Pereira’s poor performance inside the Octagon. But after White’s hot take went viral, Jones attempted to get the last laugh after it failed to come to fruition.
Jon Jones wishes ‘Good luck’ to Alex Pereira, others after Dana White’s GOAT take
In a since-deleted tweet, Jones appeared to taunt White and Pereira after UFC Freedom 250.
“Thinking that you have the work ethic, the desire, the faith, and the focus to dethrone me as the GOAT of MMA,” Jones said.
“Good luck to you all.” (h/t Championship Rounds on X)
Jones and Pereira were briefly linked to a potential fight after Jones won the UFC heavyweight title over Gane at UFC 285. Instead of negotiating a fight with Tom Aspinall, Jones repeatedly pitched a super fight with Pereira, calling it one of the only legacy fights he would be interested in for a return.
Jones retired from Mixed Martial Arts last year after a long, rocky contract dispute with the promotion. After his exclusion from UFC Freedom 250, thanks to White and the matchmakers, Jones unsuccessfully called for his release.
Pereira is non-committal on his heavyweight future after UFC Freedom 250, and he could potentially return to the light heavyweight division to challenge newly minted champion Carlos Ulberg. As for Jones, he’s supremely confident that his legacy stands alone in discussing the greatest fighters in UFC history.
