Prior to the title loss, “Rocky” had put together a five-fight win streak which included stoppage victories over Chris Weidman, Lyoto Machida and the aforementioned Michael Bisping.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo Souza’s last fight came at May’s UFC 198 event in Brazil, where he earned a dominant first-round TKO victory over former UFC champion Vitor Belfort. “Jacare” has gone 9-1 in his past ten fights overall, with his lone during that time coming to Yoel Romero via split decision.

Souza and Rockhold have met once before while fighting under the Strikeforce banner, with Luke emerging victorious via unanimous decision in a five-round middleweight championship bout.
