Report: Josh Emmett to appeal loss to Jeremy Stephens
Tom Taylor - February 26, 2018
On Saturday night, in the main event of the UFC’s action-packed stop in Orlando, featherweight knockout artist Jeremy Stephens authored his latest act of brutality, this time at the expensive of Team Alpha Male contender Josh Emmett. Stephen’s knockout win came mid-way through the second round. Regrettably, Stephens’s victory has been mired in controversy, as several of the blows he landed in the fight ending sequence were thought to be illegal by many fans. The main strike in question was a knee, which seemed to graze Emmett’s head, that was thrown when Emmett was technically still a grounded opponent. Same commenters have also argued a few of the elbows Stephens threw made impact on the back of Emmett’s skull – though this can be partly attributed to Emmett turning into the strikes.
Josh Emmett issues statement on tough loss to Jeremy Stephens
Tom Taylor - February 25, 2018
On Saturday night, the UFC returned to Orlando, Florida with an exciting 12-fight FOX card. In the main event, cinderblock-fisted featherweight contenders Jeremy Stephens and Josh Emmett collided in a fight that had Performance of the Night written all over it. In the end, this fight met those expectations, with Stephens coming out on top in the most vicious way possible. After a close first round, Stephens found the opportunity to do what he does best, wobbling his foe with a punch, and polishing him off series of hellish elbows (and a knee that many onlookers felt they was illegal). Just like that, Emmett was supine on the canvas, and Jeremy Stephens was celebrating his latest act of brutality.

On Saturday night, the UFC returned to beautiful Orlando, Florida with a thrilling 12-fight card. In the end, this fight met those expectations, with Stephens coming out on top in the most vicious way possible. After a close first round, Stephens found the opportunity to do what he does best. After wobbling his foe with a punch, he punished him with a series of questionable elbows and knees (many onlookers felt they were illegal as they seemed to land on the back of the head), and a salvo of absolutely brutal ground punches. 'Savage Killer' Jeremy Stephens Ready to Take Out Untested Josh Emmett at UFC Orlando
Justin Golightly - February 22, 2018
Who is that guy? That’s the hardest hittin’ 145-er, Jeremy Stephens. Fresh off his vicious finish of rising prospect Dooho Choi, Stephens is stepping into the Octagon with Josh Emmett this weekend, who is no stranger to throwing heat himself. He just took out perennial featherweight gatekeeper Ricardo Lamas in an outcome that shocked a lot of people. The fight at UFC Orlando between Stephens and Emmett will be about who can land that big shot first or whose chin can hold up for the long haul, but Stephens thinks Emmett just hasn’t put in enough time on the battle clock. “[Josh Emmett]’s been in the gym getting these guys [from Team Alpha Male] ready. He hasn’t actually been out there on the battlefield like a true general getting that experience. He’ll be well prepared and he’ll be in great shape but he doesn’t have what I have. He’s going to find that out very soon. I’m not a competitor. I don’t score points. I’m in there to take you out. I will break him. I’m not a competitor. I’m a vicious fighter. I’m a savage killer who wants to take you out, who wants to finish you.”

EXCLUSIVE | Josh Emmett believes win over Jeremy Stephens could be more valuable than win over Brian Ortega
Tom Taylor - January 28, 2018
Back in December of 2017, Team Alpha Male staple Josh Emmett authored the best win of his career thus far, smashing Ricardo Lamas to a first-round knockout win. With this impressive victory, Emmett surged up the UFC featherweight ladder, usurping the number-four spot in the division’s rankings. In the wake of this career-changing win, Emmett quickly began campaigning or a fight with fellow contender Brian Ortega, who recently won big with a submission of Cub Swanson. Unfortunately, Ortega didn’t seem interested in this fight, and opted to wait for his shot at the winner of Max Holloway and Frankie Edgar’s upcoming title fight.

BREAKING | Brian Ortega Turned Down Josh Emmett for UFC Orlando's Main Event
Justin Golightly - January 11, 2018
Josh Emmett has been wanting to capitalize off his fire built off of the startling knockout of top featherweight contender Ricardo Lamas. He classily offered a rematch to Lamas, but it looks like both parties are moving on. He put his sights on Brian Ortega, who had his own upset over Cub Swanson, but it looks like it all of that has fell through. While everyone wondered what was going to be the main event of UFC Orlando would be, at one point it was Emmett fighting Ortega. According to the man himself though, Ortega has refused the fight. I just got some bad news like just, thirty minutes ago. The UFC was actually putting this fight together [with Brian Ortega]. Ortega and I were supposed to fight. We were going to headline a fight on another huge card and he will not fight me. He turned it down. He flat out said he will not fight me. I have no idea [the reason]. He just will not fight me. We were going to headline the UFC Orlando card. Main event on FOX.”
Max Holloway Gives Props to the New Featherweight Contenders
Justin Golightly - December 23, 2017
Back at UFC Fresno and UFC Winnipeg, there were some pivotal moments in the UFC’s featherweight division. Undefeated Brian Ortega came in cool, calm, and collected and it paid off. He finished Cub Swanson in the second round with a guillotine choke, making it so the UFC could no longer deny him a shot at gold. Meanwhile, Josh Emmett showed up short notice against the very game Ricardo Lamas, knocking him out in the first round and shocking the crowd. As the new king, don’t think Max Holloway wasn’t watching this unfold. He recently voiced his respect of their performances but was also quick to send out a warning. “I was impressed by the two wins by [Brian Ortega and Josh Emmett] – of course. Ortega finishes Cub – that’s impressive stuff. It’s always impressive when you finish someone. Finishing anybody in the top 10, even the top five when we’re talking about those two guys, is amazing. We’re the best fighters in the world and you get to finish them, that’s always cool to see. Me and Ortega are two young kids, so it should be fun whenever that happens. Josh Emmett came in and was able to shake it up real quick. I’m excited for the future. A lot of people are saying that one of those guys are going to give me a run. I can’t wait. I’m glad and I’m looking forward to the challenges. All these guys are cupcakes and there’s some new flavors, and I want my taste of them.”
After massive upset knockout, Josh Emmett has a classy offer for Ricardo Lamas
Tom Taylor - December 17, 2017
Last night, in the co-main event of UFC on Fox 26, Team Alpha Male prospect Josh Emmett stepped into the Octagon for a short notice bout with long-time featherweight contender Ricardo Lamas. Though Emmett unfortunately missed weight for this fight, he managed to make good on the opportunity in the end, knocking Lamas out with a swooping left hook in the first round. While this win stands out as the biggest of his career thus far, Emmett said post-fight that he’d be happy to give Lamas an immediate rematch. Lamas did, after all, accept a fight with an un-ranked opponent on short notice, and didn’t back out when that opponent missed weight.
