BJPENN.COM Radio Ep. 67 // Mairbek Taisumov | Alexander Volkanovski | Josh Emmett

Colby Covington

BJPENN Radio returns tonight at 9PM ET/6PM PT!

9:15PM ET- We kick things off with UFC lightweight Mairbek Taisumov. Following what appears to be an end to his frustrating visa complications, the Russian powerhouse appears to have cleared the hurdle as it was announced he’d be fighting Evan Dunham at UFC 223 in Brooklyn, New York. Riding a five-fight win streak under the UFC banner, Taisumov believes a big win on April 7th against Dunham puts him right in the mix at 155. We’ll discuss the visa situation, the matchup against Dunham, and the landscape of the division.

9:40PM ET- Next up we are joined by surging Aussie prospect, Alexander Volkanovski. Now 3-0 in the UFC, Alexander hopes to break into the rankings at featherweight and progress towards the title. Standing in his way on February 11th in Perth, Australia, is an opponent Volkanovski was supposed to face in his last bout, Jeremy Kennedy. Alex will breakdown the matchup, discuss his future ambitions for 2018, and remind all the fans that UFC 222 is one not to miss.

10:00PM ET- Wrapping things up tonight will be the No. 4 ranked featherweight in the UFC, Josh Emmett. Josh broke the news on BJPENN Radio two weeks ago that Brian Ortega had declined a marquee fight for UFC on FOX 28 in Orlando, Florida. However, it was announced last week that Josh will now be facing a long-time veteran coming off his own impressive win in Jeremy Stephens. We’ll hear the timetable of events that led to this awesome fight being booked, how Josh expects the fight play out, and whether or not the winner should get the next crack at featherweight gold.

All that and much more!
