Last month UFC pound for pound kingpin Jon Jones was given 5 traffic citations. Among them was a ticket for drag racing, something Jones has maintained he was falsely accused of. A video from Officer Jason Brown’s body camera was released, showing Jones and the officer engaging in an aggressive verbal battle that saw Jones repeatedly maintain his innocence.

UFC pound for pound kingpin Jon Jones has had his share of legal troubles, however he feels that the recent traffic stop which landed him in jail for 3 days was unnecessary. Jones was ultimately released from jail and ordered to complete anger management courses, as well as driver awareness classes. In addition, Jones must now get permission from his probation officer before driving anywhere.

Cormier suffered an injury in training that forced him out of the championship rematch with Jones. Ovince Saint Preux has stepped in to face Jones on short notice and the two will fight for the interim championship on April 23rd at UFC 197.

The heated rivalry between former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and the current champion Daniel Cormier will continue on with Cormier having to pull out their title fight at UFC 197 on April 23rd. BJPENN.COM reported on Friday that Cormier had to withdraw from the title fight with Jones due to an injury suffered in training. The UFC revealed shortly after that Ovince Saint Preux has stepped in on short notice to replace Cormier and fight Jones for the interim title.

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has a bad history with driving. Most recently, an alleged drag racing incident ended up getting Jones locked behind bars for three days for violating his probation that he was on for a previous hit-and-run accident. One would think that it would be best for a successful former champion like Jones to have a full-time personal driver with having such a history behind the wheel. It sounds like that is now the case, according to Jones’ head coach Greg Jackson.

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones (21-1 MMA) will return to the octagon for the first time in over a year when he squares off with Ovince Saint Preux (19-7 MMA) in the main event of UFC 197 for the promotions interim light heavyweight title. “OSP” has gone 3-1 in his past four octagon appearances. His most recent effort saw him score a unanimous decision victory over former Strikeforce champ Rafael Cavalcante at February’s UFC Fight Night 82 event. Prior to that, Saint Preux was submitted in the third-round by Glover Teixeira at UFC Fight Night 73. “OSP” also holds first-round knockout victories over “Shogun” Rua and Patrick Cummins.

After news broke last night that Daniel Cormier was injured and would no longer be able to defend his UFC light heavyweight championship against Jon Jones at UFC 197, there was much speculation as to who the UFC would select as a fill-in opponent for Jones. While initial reports were that the UFC had offered the fight to Anthony Johnson, he was unable to take the fight due to recently undergoing mouth surgery.
